Question about Dell Inspiron 600M Notebook
I have a 3 year old 600m Laptop, all of a sudden it won't charge the batteries, it almost seems like it's draining them. 2 yrs ago the power cord wasn't recognized, got a fix from dell, tried a different power cord this time, still won't charge the batteries. Red light flashes when battery is in, system runs real slow, when I take the battery out and just us a/c everything is fine. i need the laptop to be mobile! Does anyone know why it's not charging? I have tried multiple good batteries, it kills them every time.
If you are using known good batteries, and you have the most current BIOS Flash, then it is likely a failure of the charging curcuit on the motherboard. The flashing Amber (Some people see it as red) led indicates a failed battery
The Multiple good batteries, I assume have been recently purchased, because computer batteries are consumable and are rated for 300 to 500 charging cycles before they wear out.
I replaced my 700m motherboard with one from Ebay for about $170.00 about a year ago.
