Question about Sony KDL-32M3000 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

My Sony KDL-32M3000 has dark reddish picture, checked the ribbons around the frame they're ok, power supply is ok, Hi voltage board is ok, I'm guessing the main video processing board since I don't have a service manual can't find the faulty component, any help is greatly appreciated. Sam

It will be either BM board (Video Processor board) or Tcon Board (top side of panel). I have similar problem...my TV turns on, lamps turns on (you can see them from back side panel holes) but just a dark blue picture appears with no image (like picture when external input is selected without signal), no OSD appears....some times I can heard audio (using Antena).
I'm thinking getting the BM board.

Check Tcon board (between BM board and LCD Panel. It is located in top center area of LCD Back Side. In Tcon board, there is a small fuse with a P printed in its body, near connector base which comes from BM board. Check if it is open or not. Mine was open and replace it with good results, now picture is back.

Same problem here, F1 fuse on the T-con board is open. I soldered a wire across the fuse, and now my picture is back.

Sony KDL-52w5500 black screen 13 blink then 14 blink

You have a couple of problems if you are sure there are 2 different blink codes. 13 blinks indicates a backlight balancer error which would explain your no light condition. 14 blinks would be a TCON board error which is the driver board for the LCD screen. Either error would keep the screen black.

My Sony KDL-32M3000 has ghost (dark red) display with slow motion picture. What could be the cause and how can it be repaired. Thanks

Thats usually caused by bad flex tab bonds on the LCD panel itself. If you search for flex tab issues vidoes it will show how the pisture can get slow motion in areass as well as double images in that area.

0ne of 3 has failed:
(in order of probability):

1. Backlight inverter
2. Power Supply
3. Backlight

Please seek the expertise of an experienced TV repair technician - as they contain potentially lethal voltages that must be properly discharged before work can begin.

Screen dark but can still see picture

could be a problem with the inverter board which is the power board for the CCFL backlight system. if the tv doesnt actually go into shutdown you may be able to still see the video but it will be very dark no glow to the screen at all. the reasons for shutdown for inverter failure could be a bad inverter transformer or open fuse on the inverter that supplies power to the board or it could even be a bad CCFL lamp. i suggest looking for the fuse that is the most likely suspect it may be yellow if i remember correctly. good luck

I have a sony 32m3000 color is dark and red also

@circuitworld: You claim in your profile that you repair plasma and LCD TV's, but you just told someone with an LCD to replace the convergence IC's and linear buffers. First off, convergence IC's are in rear projection TV's not LCD's, and the buffer boards are in plasma's, again, not in LCD's

@gardenwc: Typically what you are experiencing is a bad video controller or an actual faulty panel, the latter of which is not cost effective to replace.

Kdl 32m3000 we have changed 3 boards on this

That's correct it is the LCD panel. This is actually a common problem with this model, and its surprising that it really does look like a video board (BM board) problem. It is actually a problem with the panel itself.
Here is the fix:

This guy was kind enough to post it. I recently did the repair on a KDL-32M3000 and it worked like a charm. Took surprising long, but worked like a charm. I didn't have a 10 Ohm resistor laying around, so I used 2 x 4.7 Ohm resistors in series.
