already have the service manual, which is no help. I do know how to adjust thru menu but can not get the green tint out. As if there is no true black. The screen looks like you are looking thru a green film.

  • 06Goatman Jul 06, 2008

green tint no matter how adjust. If a cover the green lamp with a thin cloth takes out the green tint. But of course makes it hard to get the colors right. But it is alot more watchable. How to adjust the brightness of the green lamp? Because the controls on the menu do not affect the green.

  • 06Goatman Jul 09, 2008

No all connections are tight. Still have the problem with the green tint.

  • 06Goatman Jul 13, 2008

When I use the tint feature in the menu it has no affect no matter how much you adjust. Probably cheaper to get new tv. Tried everything else nothing helps.

Hello,

The most common fault in this is the connection in the projection. maybe had it loss or some part of it got busted.

If you can self tech the TV, i recommend you to check the vertical and the horizontal projection of the TV. Or adjust inside the tint if it is not an auto adjust. if it is auto adjust then concluded that parts is loss connection or busted parts.

However the most effective way is consult the vendor or the service center of your TV.

The CRT tube is in problem ....
you must replace the CRT tube ........

check whether any interference is happening ....
interference happens if you have some magnetic field near by the tv just like some speakers , telephone line etc ....

just have a check with the interference otherwise it is confirmed that CRT tube is in problem ...
you must replace the CRT tube ...

you can recharge the same CRT tube but you will not get so much performance & clarity as earlier so it is better you replace the CRT tube ....

It is a convegence related issue. Either the projection convergence settings are not correct or the Convergence IC is gonna take a break. If you are sure that the settings are all right then i will put my money on the convergence IC. The service manual should specify something about convergence Ic and what should be the voltage that should flow across it. Get a multimeter and check this. I can get you a replacement provided you tell me the part number..
Let me know how it went so that we can follow up on this..

Like the blog suggested just turn the green adjustment a little. But beware this is a high voltage repair and you should exercise extreme caution. Do not touch the components with hands. Also to be sure you are safe wear tennis shoes to minimize the risk of electric-shock.

If you are using component video cables check them first. You might have one that isn't pushed on all the way.

Try this
Disconnect the filament - all evidence of a picture, raster, and retrace lines should disappear once the filaments/cathodes have cooled (15 seconds or so. If there are still visible retrace lines, the CRT is suffering from cold or field emission from someplace (may not even be the cathode).

Turn down the screen (G2) control on the flyback (usually). If one color remains no matter how you set the control, again there is some kind of weird emission from the CRT. However, if white/gray retrace lines remain, the problem may be in the screen supply.

Hi ,
welcome to Fixya, it sounds like you may have a weak CRT (picture tube)
If the TV is over 6 years old that may be the case.
There are RED, Blue and Green color balance adjustments that you can try .
referencing the exact model one could see how it adjusts.
hope this helps

I have a JVC model AV27320 standard TV. The picture is dark and the tint is off. The colors you can see are blue and red. Tried adjusting tint and brightness from the menu and no significant change. ...

It is one of two things the picture tube is bad and the green emission is very low or the green gun is open, the second possibility is the video driver or output is shorted on the video board "plugged in the back of the picture tube"

Samsung txh1970 tv screen has green tint

I encountered the same problem with a color computer monitor several years ago. Everything went green. The repair techies told me that's a sign that the power supply is going bad. You will not be able to adjust the color. You will have to either fix it or replace it. Hope this isn't a common problem with this model Samsung TV.
