My shredder runs continually after a piece if papper is shredded. How can I correct that?

- Executive Machines EPS-1501X
Shredder runs constantly after shredding. I thought it must be a sensor. However. If I press reverse, it will "grind" for a couple of seconds and then shut off.

I have tried cleaning the area where the sensor is located but no success yet. System is out of warranty. Any ideas for a fix, or just keep on turning it off with the reverse switch?

- My Ativa DQ83 shreds great, except the auto feed will not shut off. There is no blockage. This problem has escalated over time. The auto feed would take a bit longer to shut off each use until it would not shut off at all. I have to manually turn off the feed. I have maintaned the machine even using the Office Depot sherreder oil. The machine has have very light use.- kacretail

- My Royal 1200mx shredder is erratic. I cleaned the sensor with alcohol and that didn't seem to work. When it does run, it goes backward for a few seconds then stops. Then on it's own, it will start up without me touching it.... seems to be haunted. It is not jammed and has not been abused!- MHS65

- My Royal PX110MX paper and cd shredder will not automatically shut off. I have thoroughly cleaned the cutting blades and even removed the protective housing around the blades to expose the circuitry, wiring and switch. Sometimes it will start up immediately upon turning it on, sometimes not. It started by itself in the middle of the night when I accidentally left it in the standby mode. It never shuts off after shredding paper whether it is one piece or 20 pieces unless I tap the reverse button while it running. Sometimes there is a second click when turn the unit on and that is a sure indication that the unit will run continuously. - AZamora0729

Dlcrrawford, You have a sensors problem replaced both.

Kacretail: You have a bad sensor. your sensors are going bland
replaced both.

Mhs65 your eye sensor is bad. cleaning will not always help
better to replaced,

Azamoral0729: you may have two problems: Your system board or your paper sensors. I will first replace the paper sensor.
the sensor is giving false reading to the main board This is why your machine keeps coming on or will not stop when you shred.

i took a Q-tips, some hydro peroxide and cleaned the sensors. After it dried out, it all started to work normally again.
