Hi there

I have an original Ipod Nano - 4 GB. It is just over 12 months old. It no longer Syncs with my PC. My daughter has the same model of Nano (Differnet colour) yet this "syncs"with no Problems. I think when it last sync'ed a few days ago, i deleted the ipod name (Andrews ipods). since that date i can on longer see it. It charges up with no problem and can play the current music on the ipod. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software with no Luck.

Any offers would be helpful

Thanks

Mike

Try all the other 5 R's laid out in the manual - Apple's website has the full manual if you have lost it.

Please formate the player with your pc

Hi anisnakum
You mentioned you had an Ipod, so use this solution for your problem
*******************************************************************************
Since iPods are basically big hard drives with special software and a screen, the hard drive in your iPod needs to be formatted.
Formatting is essentially the process of prepping the drive to talk to the computer it connects to.
Luckily, you usually don't have to worry about formatting your iPod.
Formatting happens automatically when you first set up your iPod.
If you use your iPod with a Mac, during this process it becomes Mac formatted. Be sure you have Itunes download to your computer
If you use it with Windows, it gets Windows formatting.
If your using a Mac then it will Mac format.

How to reformat my ipod using itunes?

How to Reformat iPod In order to reformat iPod to work on both Mac and PC, connect your iPod to a Windows computer. Then follow the steps in the how to restore your iPod article. This will reset your iPod and format it for Windows.
Now, resync your iPod with the computer that contains your iTunes library. ITunes will ask you if you want to erase and sync the iPod. If you say yes, this will redownload your iTunes library to the iPod.
At this point, you may also need a way to easily move your iTunes library to the second computer. A quick way to do this is with software that copies the contents of your iPod to a computer. Learn more about iPod copy and backup software here.
Checking iPod Format Each time you sync your iPod, you can check what format it is. In the iPod management screen in iTunes, there’s some data at the top of the window next to the image of your iPod. One of those items is “Format,” which tells you how your iPod is formatted.

When i connect my ipod and wanna syncronize it is giving me this massage(itunes has detected a macintosh-formatted ipod. you must restore this ipod before you can use it on windows)

Yes to use a mac formatted ipod with windows you must reformat. But a PC formatted ipod can be read by a MAC. It seems silly and complicated, just remember ipods came out before OSX and ipods had a different file format. Almost all ipods are "PC" formatted now so people dont have this issue unless you want it that way.

Apple iPod

Hey ttaylor7,

As long as the files you download through Linewire are in a format supported by iTunes, you may be able to play them on your iPod. The major exceptions to this however, are if the files you download are copy-protected or contain a digital rights management (DRM) identification tag. If the files you download are copy-protected and/or contain a DRM tag, you may only be able to play those songs using the media player software recommended or provided by Linewire itself.

I would strongly suggest contacting Linewire technical support before attempting any kind of file transfer, as Linewire would have the most accurate information regarding whether or not the files they provide have either of these protections.

Additionally, remember that iTunes is only able to support certain file types. Those file types are MP3, MP3 VBR, AAC, Protected AAC, Audible 2/3/4, Apple Lossless and AIFF audio formats; JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG image formats; H.264 and MPEG-4 video formats.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
