Earphone problems Instead of being shaped like a "Y", the left cord is shorter so unless I wear the unit up very high, the left ear bud doesn't reach. I've never seen earphones like this - is this a defect?

Only one ear bud is puting out sound, however when twisting the cord slightly it sometimes plays both.

This is something that happens when headphones begin to wear out. There is likely a short somewhere in the cord. There is not much you can do to fix it but buy new headphones.

Apple Ipod 4th Generation is only playing music through left ear jack. I'm confident it is a earphone/jack replacement issue. The problem occured when someone yanked my ipod from me and the ear bud cord...

My ipod crackles and my hearing seems to be getting damaged

Id say you should go see a doctor. But for now id say that you should do your best to not listen to it for a while as it can affect hearing. try to use full on speakers if you can. On you tube there are a few Sub-Woofer sound tests you can do. Try playing one (low volume) and repeat. (not a song one)

http://www.teenbuzz.org/ also to hear which frequencies are out of range to you click here. ( click the second icon on the list further down the page)

But yeah go see a doctor. Perhaps some ear drops.

Ear jack in Iriver h10 doesn't work correctly

I bought a used unit from ebay with the same problem (discovered later) and had to buy another as-is player, open it up, and replace the defective headphone jack module on the first player.
see this forum for directions to open player: forum

plan b - sell the unit as-is on ebay and put your profits toward a 20gb refurb for $30-60 (from sellers like metromania)

Only have sound on right side

I don't know if you used new earphones but if you did I would try to clean the inside of the mp3 player then reconnect youre earphone. If you still have the problem return to the store, then the hardware in the mp3 itself is wrong.

Ear phone jack

what a coincidence.  had the exact same problem today.  ur connection on the inside of the player between the circuit board and the headphone jack is probably broken.  I had to re-sauter mine.  just open it up and take a look
