Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional

1 Answer

Webpage Browser Connection

My Windows Internet Explorer browser will only connect to some URL's but not all. It just keep trying to connect and then it times out.

My security settings are as low as it can go and my privacy setting is set to accept all cookies.

I'm not having any issues with connecting to the Internet because I am receiving email form Microsoft Outlook successfully and again I can connect to some URL's like Google.com, but not others.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi. Try Tools, Internet Options, Reset. Also might be worth having a quick look in c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc at the Hosts file. Open it with Notepad and make sure you havent got a load of webpages in there being blocked.
Try those.

Help: trouble shooting If nothing else has fixed your problem, you could try these general solutions.

Clear your cache Clear your browser's cache (the temporary files your browser stores to make sites load faster). Sometimes an old or incompatible file may be stored in your browser's cache. If you clear the cache new files will be downloaded the next time you visit the page.

Update your Flash Player Chatango runs using the Adobe Flash Player. You can download the latest version here.

Update your browser - or try a different browser Sometimes an old browser may not work well with new sites. Try getting a modern browser:
Chrome
Firefox
Internet Explorer

Check your internet connection Chatango will not work on proxy connections.
Try a different way of connecting to the internet and see if that solves your problems.
If it works on your computer or device with one connection but not another - the problem is probably with the connection.

The internet said that they can not bring up your web page.

Internet Explore Cannot Display the Webpage
As you browse the Web with Internet Explorer, you may occasionally encounter an error message about the browser being unable to display the requested Web page.
If your browser is unable to display a page, the issue lies somewhere along the path from your computer to the remote website. In some cases, you can resolve the issue by troubleshooting your computer or Internet connection. Internet Connection Issue
If Internet Explorer is unable to display any pages at all, see if you are able to browse the Web on another computer.
If none of the computers in your home can browse, the problem is related to your Internet connection.
In some cases, you can resolve an Internet connection issue by unplugging the power connections for your broadband modem and router temporarily.
If you are still unable to browse, contact your Internet service provider for further assistance.

Malicious Software
If you are unable to browse the Web on your computer but can browse on other computers, the computer itself has an issue. In some cases, this can mean that your computer is infected with malicious software.
Download an anti-virus program on another computer and run it on the affected computer to troubleshoot the issue.

User Error If you receive an error in Internet Explorer when you attempt to browse to a single website, but other websites work, check to make sure that you are entering the address of the website correctly.
By default, Internet Explorer searches the Web for a close result if the address you entered is not associated with an actual website. If you have disabled this feature and enter a website address incorrectly, Internet Explorer displays an error message.

Remote Website Issue

If you are unable to browse to a single website and are certain that you have entered the website address correctly, it is likely that the website itself has a problem.
You can wait and attempt to view the website again later, or search for the website on Google or another search engine and click the "Cached" link to view a recent cached copy of the website.

HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. Internet Information Services (IIS) this error message appears while i am tring to open my work account

This is most likely caused by not having a working internet connection or typing in the wrong URL. Verify that you are connected to the internet. This can be done by Control Panel then to Network connections or a closely named icon. Here it will show you if an adapter is enabled and connected to the internet. Also, verify that the URL is correct. After verifying both of these and still having a problem, if possible, try downloading another browser or using another browser if already installed.

Check if you have a an Expired Anti-virus or the Firewall of the anti-Virus is blocking the Internet Connection.

If that does not work Reset the Browser,
Click Start>>>Run>>>
type: inetcpl.cpl
Go to Advance Tab and click on Reset Browser.

If that also does not work download and Install Firefox that will work.

When I try to open internet explorer an error box pops up saying There is a problem with internet explorer and this has to close.

Internet Explorer would sometimes act like this when you have multiple toolbars or addons installed. Try this:

- Go to the control panel
- Go to internet options
- Go to the programs tab and click on manage addons
- Disable all unnecessary addons

This must work
