Paper jammed, I cleared the jam and now when I turn the power on the blades won't turn. You hear the motor but no movement.
Well, despite the manufacters warning label I choose to take the shredder apart and found that one of the plastic gears was broken. Hence the motor runs, but the blades do not turn. The thing I didn't understand, the there are metal gears and plasic gears...I can only imagine that the plastic gears at one point or another are going to give. I would suggest not to void the manufacters warrenty, take the shredder back, and get one that is built a little stronger. Hope that helps.

Same thing: paper jammed, removed and cleared the jam, and now the motor runs, but the blades don't turn. Either on or in reverse, either way.
?
Thanks,

The overheated light came on I let it sit overnight and the motor comes on and does not shread?
My SPL-1506X shredder was making motor noise but the blades wouldn't turn. I disassembled the head and found that the smaller of the two nylon gears is severely stripped. I've been going crazy trying to find a place to buy a replacement gear. It's easy enough to fix, I just can't find it.
I have the same problem with that staples shredder. I called Staples products department. They told me they could not sell me the plastic gears because it was a "liability issue." I really think that they purposely put the plastic gear up against the metal gears so that you would have to either buy their "warranty" or purchase a new shredder every couple of years. I'm going to see if I can get a new metal gear machined.
