Question about Epson Stylus Photo R220 InkJet Printer
The Epson Stylus Photo R200 and R320 Status monitor programs are not available in Vista. Epson does not offer a solution that I know of. Do you have any information on how to monitor the ink levels with these printers?

For the Epson R200 here's how I got it to work with Vista Business 32bit ...
#1 Disable AV software
#2 Open the CD for the printer software
#3 Find the launcher, right-click it and select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab
#4 Choose XP SP2 compatibility mode and Run As Administrator, then click OK.
#5 Double-click the launcher to start the program, select Custom then then choose only the Driver and Status Monitor applications.
Worked for me, hopefully will do too for you. :o)

When you first turn your printer on, the LCD screen on the epson R320 gives a list of options. If you press the down arrow button, at the end of the options is the list of your inks with their levels. The one that is low or out is flashing. The ink names are abbreviated. This bypasses the Vista problem because you won't have to rely on your computer at all!

Hi - I have the R320, I downloaded the following driver epson11889_easyprint_310a from epson site. I uninstalled previous driver which was for the r200, installed this one and everything OK Status Monitor works fine.

I was able to install the original XP status monitor from the CD, onto Windows Vista Home Premium.
On the install cd, you need to open the 'STM3' folder under whatever language you are installing, 'English' in my case. There are several .exe files in that folder:
For each of these, right click on the file, and choose 'Properties'. Under the 'Compaitbility' tab, choose 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' - Windows XP (Service Pack 2).
Then run the 'STMSETUP.EXE' file, and it should install properly, and work. Although I cannot guarantee that it will work on your system, or that it will not have any negative effects on your computer.
So far, I have not had any trouble with it.
