Just out of curiosity, navigate to a site that uses webcams ( msn messenger etc), see if the webcam kicks in when you click on the use webcam icon

Testimonial: " i downloaded messenger and it turned on but when i left messenger and started it again it didn;t turn on but at least i know it works i just have to "

Open the Device Manager, is the webcam listed under Imaging Devices? Enabled? Have you tried a System Restore to a date before this issue? What Webcam Software does your Laptop have? CyberLink? Try unplugging , remove battery, plug in, reboot.

When i go to turn on my webcam, computer restarts

Switch On your PC/ Laptop and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

How do we turn off the time/date stamp on Logitech QuickCam? It's screwing up our whole project. Thank you

Time and date is not a default option within the Logitech software - you must have a third party software installed

The logitech software can be installed from here

Webcam not turning on

Go to Control Panel, Hardware, Devices and look for your webcam. Go through the tabs to make sure it is Enabled. If you don't see your webcam, or you can't click enable, then you will need to reload the software drivers, either from disc or the manufacturer's website. Once you think you have it working you may want to reboot your computer, and then try the free webcam test tool.
