Question about CyberPower 825AVR (cps825avr-sc) UPS System

2 Answers

Cyberpower 825avr The battery/surge outlets suddenly stopped working during a recent rainstorm. There was minor brown out but no loss of power. Does this mean that the back-up battery is shot? The other 3 outlets are providing power. This is not a very old unit! Thanks! PegShanley Chapel Hill NC

It would appear that you need to replace the battery on this unit.
You could get a new battery from a local battery specialty store like Batteries Plus or Interstate Battery, or online at www.replacementupsbattery.com. A new battery would be about $30. If you took your old battery there, they could recycle your old one, as well as match it up with the correct one you would need (HR9-12 battery).
We have a 3 year warranty on all our battery back up units. If you have any questions, you could contact us here at CyberPower Systems Technical Support at 877-297-6937, M-F 8-5 Central, or email us at tech@cyberpowersystems.com.

The brownout probably didn't cause the problem, but did however probably reveal a weak battery. When it was required, during the brownout, the battery was determined to be bad by the unit and it shutdown. Now the unit is testing the battery on startup and it will not allow it to turn on because the battery is deemed "bad". Not to worry though, replacements are easily found at Battery International. Not Working During Power Outage

Bad battery in the UPS. To test unplug all equipment. Check outgoing power with voltage meter. Should read around 115vAC. Then unplug from the wall outlet. Check voltage again. If no voltage is present its a bad battery.

Flat screen tv power surged

Is it just the cable? Do you have a DVD player or game system connected? If so, how do they look? Ofter a momentary power loss can cause cableboxes to loss picture, loss sound, and even cause the picture to be distorted. Try unpluggind the AC power from the cablebox and TV. Wait about 5 minutes and reconnect both. Leave the cablebox alone for about another 5 minute after you reconnect it so that it can fully boot up. Then see if you still have the problem.

Had power surges and now doesnt turn on

try unpluggin it from the wall for 10 minutes. this may reset its internal circuity. there is always the possibility that you had a brown out. most people call them surges but its when the power goes out and back on that hurts the TV. put a battery back up and or surge protector inline to save you from the next one. make sure the outlet you are using is still working and not tripped the power breaker. do this by testing a charger or light that you know already works in the same receptical outlet. if it works then power module went bad in tv, among other things.

Dead unit

I'm sorry to hear about your DISH Network DVR-625 receiver. If you don't mind me asking & to allow me to further assist you, what exactly do you mean by "dead unit"," For example, was it working and has suddenly stopped working? Does it power on, can you see any lights on the front of your receiver? Is it plugged directly into a electrical outlet on the wall, or is it plugged into a power strip/surge protector? If plugged into a power strip/surge protector, please attempt to bypass by plugging the receiver directly into an electrical outlet- if plugged into an electrical outlet please try a different outlet. I hope these few tips may help but if not and you need further assistance please feel free to contact me @ Kirstie.Filosa@Dishnetwork.com :)

Check all battery terminals and 12v power feed connections are clean and tight.
Check all battery chassis and ground connections are also firm and in good order.
Check any in line 'Maxi' fuse connections are firm.
Check for water ingress in any cable loom or bulkhead connector exposed to the water spray.

Lightning Storm/Affinity Washer

During a lightning storm, a lightning strike could have induced a high voltage surge in your incoming power lines. Left unprotected from these power surges, the weakest link ( normally low voltage electronic controls) are the most susceptable. Just because you had power available at the wall receptacle after a storm doesn't mean that your washer control system wasn't exposed to one of these surges and got damaged. On the contrary, it is extremely likely that the washer took a 'hit' and was damaged.Other devices plugged into the same receptacle may have survived that hit because electricity travels the path of least resistance.. In this case.. that path may have been thru your washer.. My point being is that your washer could have sustained a power surge and was damaged so don't rule that out. Of course, that surge could have taken an internal fuse or other component out too..

Not working

Some UPS have "Battery backup" and "Surge only" outlets. I don't know if it is the case for your model. The "Surge only" outlets are not connected to the battery and will go off during a power outage. Make sure that the equipement that need to keep running during the outage are connected to the "Battery backup".

Important: Never connect a laser printer to the "Battery backup" outlets because to power draw is just too high.

Have you made sure that the battery is connected inside the UPS? (If the battery is user-replacable)

You may do a simple experiment. Connect you UPS you a wall outlet and plug a conventionnal lamp to a battery backup outlet. Then, unplug the UPS from the wall. If the light goes off, then you may have a problem with your UPS.
