Is this a vcr or a dvd or a combo unit? If you could clarify and detail what is going on with your device I will try to help you. Thanks

I had the same problem, and had tried to eject the cassette a number of times. Frustrated, I decided to try fixing it myself. I unplugged all the cords (power, cable, cords to TV, etc) and took the unit to a GFIC (grounded) plug. I hit the eject button and out popped the cassette! Who knew?

Marvin,
I am not registered here as an expert, so there should not be any charges. I do not have the option of chatting I am guessing only the registered experts have that. Here goes: 1. Take a phillips screw driver and remove all the screws that are holding the case on, there will be some big ones on the sides and a few maybe smaller ones on the back. 2. Lift the the case off 3. You should see the tape on the inside the vcr 4. You may or may not have to remove some of the metalic shielding which should be only anywhere from 4-6 screws if you have a piece of metal directly over the vcr tape some have them some do not. 5 Gently pull the magnetic tape up from around the feeder posts and the drum. 6. Try and work the vcr tape up and out, If you are having extreme difficulties with this try plugging the vcr back up and pushing the eject button while still holding the magnetic tape. The tape should eject now and you and carefully pull it out. 7. When you get the tape out, use your thumb to push up and turn one side of the white reals on the tape to slowly wind the magnetic tape back inside the tape. 8. Unplug the vcr again and replace everything that you had to remove and replace the cover.
I hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance. And since I am not a registered expert here there should be no charge for this help unless you chatted or got help from one of the registered experts.

Tape is stuck, can't remove it

I remove a stuck tape from a VCR by taking off the outside cover. (My unit was held together by 5 screws.) This allowed me to access the tape and check where it was locked. I had to loosen a twisted tape from the mechanism and then I could eject it. (Note: I unplugged the deck before removing the cover.)

I hope this helps.

(I've been fortunate; I've only had to do this on VCR units (not VCR/DVD) that were out of warranty. If your MWR20V6 is still in warranty, you may not want to open the case at home.)

Tape Stuck

I've checked the entire user manual which notes problems like this need to be referred to authorized service personnel. Myself, I would unplug the entire unit, put it on a kitchen table using a phillips (cross-tip) screwdriver to remove the top metal shell. Remove at least 2 screws each side and 2-5 rear screws securing the top. Nothing like peering inside to see what is causing the VCR to get stuck and help remove it. No release pinhole or tape freeing ejector will work if the unit's tape is tightly wound around some internal object or the tape is stuck because something foreign is inside the unit. Vhs tape is stuck and message reads "tape

Unplug the TV/VCR/DVD Combo from the main power for a couple of minutes, the unit may eject the tape at the power ON.
You can also try openening the unit, reset the loading posts and eject the tape by manually turning gears, motors etc..You have to know what you're doing otherwise, you will do more damage or get injured and don't forget HIGH VOLTAGE CAN KILL.

VCR tape stuck in VCR

One way is to take off the cover of the unit so that you can see where the tape is hung up and help push the tape out. (One of two problems are usually involved: the cassette cover isn't closing down evenly (a high corner blocking the travel path) or a loop of the tape blocking the cover closing.)

On my VCR unit it was ~4 screws on the back that held the cover in place. (That was VCR only. There might be a few more screws in the larger unit.)

I hope this helps.

TV/VCR combo unit trying to eject non-existent tape

The problem is that the loading is out of timing by a tooth. This would explain both the attempt to load a non-existant tape as well as the unit shutting down. This unit needs to be disassembled and the belts replaced and the loading mechanism re-timed. I have done many of these with success. While time consuming because the entire unit must be taken apart, it is not a real difficult repair for anyone that has done them in the past. Where are you located so I can make a referral?

Tape stuck in VCR

could be that you're looking at a blown cartridge for that vcr tape. You may need to cut the tape, to extract that from the unit.

The play head would usually retract when the cartridge is removed, BUT could be compromised by some tape getting into the play head mechanism, and jamming.

be particularly careful with anything pointy or sharp, as the tape head does NOT like those objects near the read surface.

Tape stuck in VCR, won't eject.

you posted 2 different problems here...
to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)

the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.

VCR Tape stuck and I can't remove it.... it is an important tape so I don't want to break it.

Best to take the unit to a shop. The unit can be taken apart and the tape removed manually.

Vcr jam

You really should take this unit into a repair shop with the stuck tape as to get this bugger out of the unit will require the tape loading mechanism to be disassembled. if this is not taken apart correctly, you could cause more damage to the unit. Good Luck.
