I have seen this same problem with other computers. Turns out that the CMOS needed to be reset/cleared. I think that this solution for this computer is a problem since there are no jumpers to disconnect and the CMOS Battery is soldered in.

I have seen articles about how to clear/reset the CMOS but there were very mixed results... be careful.

I have a Toshiba Settelite A135-S2386 laptop. When I plag in my memory stick, it says one of the usb attached to this computer is not recognised yet the same stick can be accessed through other computers....

Three things to try -
1 If you have more than 1 usb port try all of them.
2 Switch the laptop off and remove the battery for 30 minutes, replace and try again.
3. Try a different memory stick

My usb ports dont work in my toshiba satellite A135-S2386

Unplug the PCMCIA card first.
Then disable the onboard USB hub and ports. Shutdown, plug in the PCMCIA card and reboot into Windows.
Let Windows detect the card and if necessary put in the driver CD for the card. Had similar issues with my desktop PCI USB card.
After disabling the Onboard though it works perfectly fine now.

Hope this might help you a lot.
Good luck!

Thank you.
