We have DSL in our house. My wife has an internal wireless modem in her Gateway laptop. I n certain parts of the house, she can't get a connection or it is very weak. Now that I have a laptop, I cannot get connection with ours at all. What can we do?
The weak signal is due to either physical barriers - walls etc, distance from transmitter (router) or interferance (other netowoks broadcasting) You may be able to improve things by
raising the router up higher
move to a more centeral location in house
changing the supplied antenna for a high gain antenna
placing an "external" antenna on the router EG ensure it physically connects to your router though before buying - check you router manual for the correct connector type. Also some routers donot have detachable antennas
change channel that wireless router operates on
The one that will not connect what OS are you running?
