Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

Weird power issue

I am completely stumped. I have an HP Pavilion dv1000 (dv1133wm) which only turns on once I reseat the battery. I can push the power button all day and it will not turn on (no response whatsoever) but as soon as I reseat that battery it turns on fine. Also when I RESTART it just completely powers down as if I SHUTDOWN. I have cleaned all connections, reseated all of my hardware, and flashed the BIOS with the latest version (which HP said to do) and I am still having the same issue.

Have you tried removing the battery and then turning the laptop on? If this works then you have a battery issue rather than a battery terminal problem (which is the only other issue I can  think of that would survive a BIOS reset.

Hook a external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop, if okay! there is a LCD problem with the laptop screen, causes! bad inverter board, or back light. If both show black! causes are Video Graphics Card that is part of the motherboard.

I have an hp pavillion dv1000 it works fine but the screen is very faint i can barely make out the icons... i tried pushing fn f7 which is supposed to make it brighter and nothing happened... any...

the backlight may be going or has gone out, is it plugged in or running on batteries? when plugged in it should be bright with a battery is usually dies down so as not to use alot of energy.

If that does not help, try function key and making it darker, I know that sounds weird but sometimes it gets stuck in a weird loop, My dell laptop does it all the time.

It wont turn on whether its plugged in or not....

This issue could be due to presence of static charges or internal hardware malfunction of the notebook. To isolate the exact cause of the issue, perform the following steps.

Step 1: Hard Reset

To perform a hard reset, please follow the steps listed below:

1. Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC and remove from any port replicator or docking station.
2. Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
3. Press and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds.
4. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC.
5. Press the power button to turn the notebook PC back on.

This will discharge the static charges from the notebook. Now check for the issue. If the issue persists, then remove and reseat the memory modules of the notebook.

Step 2: Remove and reseat memory modules

You can refer the service manual provided below for information to remove and reseat the memory modules.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00444244.pdf

Refer page no: 121, 122 & 123
NOTE: PDF manuals require the Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and printing.
However, if the issue still persists, then it is clear that the issue is due to internal hardware malfunction of the notebook and requires a detailed onsite diagnosis by a service technician. At this point, I would recommend you to take the notebook to a nearest Computer Service Center to get it repaired/serviced. I hope the information provided would be helpful.

HP Pavilion dv1000 PC Notebook Audio Problem

There are two different audio cards shipped with Pavilion DV1000 series Notebooks.

If your Notebooks belong to DV1600 series, your Notebook should have been shipped with Conexant High Definition Audio card.

This can be one of the reason why you are unable to install the Conexant AC Link audio drivers in your Notebooks.

You need to install Microsoft UAA Drivers first before installing the Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers in the Notebook.

Download the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) Drivers for your Notebook from the HP link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

Please save the file in the Notebook and double click it after the download completes to install the drivers. Restart the Computer once the installation of the Microsoft UAA Drivers is completed.

Now download the Conexant High Definition audio drivers from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32864.exe

Save the file and double click on it once it is saved to install the Drivers.

This should solve the issue with audio in your Notebooks.

Hope this helps...

Charging cable gets hot, charge port too, not battery though

No it is not a problem. The power dissapiation in the adaptor causes it to become hot.
