SOURCE: hdd recorder / recording & watching cable channels

yeah actually that is kinda simple. Like the old vcr recorders you can just put a splitter between the cable (input) and your dvd hdd and your tv.
that is an easy 3 dollar solution

SOURCE: How to Record TV Programs w/o Cable Box/Satellite Receiver?

Ok, I had this issue. And this is what you need. Even if you have a new HDTV, you need a converter box. The new TVs are not made to send out the signal just take it in. Best price I have seen on converter boxes was H.E.B

1. Antenna to converter box
2. Converter box to VCR
3. VCR to T.V

You will have to leave the converter box on when you are recording or leave it on when you leave the house. Also it has to be on the channel you are recording and the TV needs to be on channel 3 or 4. When you program your VCR it needs to be for the time and stuff. But put it to record channel 3 or 4. Which ever you pick for it to record off of. It really is easy. But I do hate that the people that had this great idea made it to where we can only record from one channel. I am going to try to send a diagram that I drew. Not the best artist, but you can tell what I mean. I can not seem to get it to attach the attachment. But you should not have a problem. Good Luck :-)

SOURCE: i have a rca dvd recorder+vcr combo drc8320n i want to set up watching/changing cabletv channels on the dvd remote. i have tried buying universal remotes cheap& expensive but they no longer work on my

With cable input connected to "RF in"on rear of unit make sure vidoe input is set to "Tuner". This will show up on the TV screen. Change channels numerically or using up/down arrow keys on DVR remote. Note there is a slight pause between changing channels. You probably will have to "autoscan" for channel setup/etc. If you say your TV set is old; it probabaly is equiped with coax
connection only/set TV channel to "3" or "4". when yot opt to play vcr/dvd it will override your
cable channel selected. Hope this helps!

How to enter disc menu for finalizing dvd-r on philips dvdr3330H

The Disc Settings menu is accessed from the Disc Index Picture screen (so it's not as easily accessed as on other brands of DVD recorders). When you first put a recorded disc in the device, you'll see this index screen. At this point you need to press the UP arrow on the remote repeatedly until the disc content menu appears. This is a screen with the disc name, amount of recording time used and the date of the first recording. Then press the Right arrow button to get to the Disc Settings menu. Use the Down Arrow to reach the line that reads Finalise Disc. Then press OK and then press OK a second time to confirm the action.

The documentation for the DVDR3330H is available from Philips here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=hu&ctn=DVDR3330H/02 . See page 52 for the screen captures. The Finalise steps are on page 53.

I hope this helps.

I have a hdd/dvd recorder model rh7880/rh7500 set timer recording to record onto dvd, machine switched itself on as normal but did not start to record and froze up.cannot get anything to respond either...

Recorder wasn't under warranty, so opened the unit up removed the dvd - rw disc ,which was corrupted as it turns out, put the machine back together switched it on and it worked perfectly.I have since tested it by recording both on to dvd,hdd and used the dubbing format and have had no problems. In the future I would recommend bying only top quality discs as it seems a dodgy one was responsible.

Recording from DVD recorder to disc

Christine,

1) Put a compatible DVD in the tray. (I have noticed that I must format DVD+R discs, but others are formatted okay for recording -- such as DVD-R and DVD RW)
2) Close the tray.
3) Make sure the player is set to HDD and not to DVD. It will indicate HDD, DVD, or SD on the LCD screen.
4) Using the remote press the "functions" button.
5) Select "copy" from the menu when it appears.
6) You will now see the list of programs you have recorded to the HDD. Highlight the one you want to copy and press "Enter" on the remote.
7) I think there are two confirmation screens that come up, press start or continue or whatever it says.
8) My recorder generally takes about 14 minutes at high speed to copy a two-hour program. If the program is longer than 2- hours, you must divide it into tow or more shorter segments for more than one DVD.
9) If you want to select several shorter programs (not to exceed 2-hours combined) highlight the programs individually pressing the PAUSE button on the remote. This places a check mark next to each of the programs. When you finish, press the enter button on the remote and go through the confirmations screens again.
10) If the DVD is nor rewritable, it will automatically run the "finalize" program. It takes about 3 minutes and runs after recording. This formats the DVD so that it can be played in non-Panasonic players. If it is a DVD-RW, they you must finalize it manually if you want to watch it on other types of players.

Hope this helps,

Nancy

I have had that problem in the past and I just pushed the DVD or the VHS button at the top of the remote. Sometimes when it is in a different mode you can get the menu but can't scroll.

Dubbing rom hdd to dvd

All you have to do is select dvd on the remote (at the top). Then it should do it automatically. If it doesn't, go to menu, then setup, disk, format. That does the job.
