The VCR is playing and functioning, but the picture won't show up on the TV. I have all the channels set and it should be working, but the TV is the black and white static. Could it need dusted? It hasn't been used in about two or three years.

Make sure the tv vcr button on the vcr is selected to vcr and that you have the tv on channel 3 or 4. try pushing the tv vcr button a few times back and forth on channel 3 then on 4. if that doesnt work try hooking the vcr up to the tv with the rca jacks. they will be yellow, white and red or maybe only two from the vcr yellow and white. hook them up the the correct input on the tv and change the input on the tv. if that doesnt work, your vcr may be done.

How do i set up my tv with my sony vcr

Hi Katie.. If you are using a coaxial cable to connect your TV and VCR, the TV needs to be tuned to channel 3 or 4. If you are using the Yellow, red and white cables, your TV should be on video mode to work.

The TV channel should be set on Chanel 3 or Chanel 4.
Use the remote control of the TV to set it.
You can also use the AUX ports (to TV) on the VCR and connect the three wires to the AUX ports on the TV (TV input). The two audio wires are to be connected to Audio in and the Video signal to the Video input.
If you get a garbled picture you can use press the tracking button on the VCR. Usually you press the Channel Up arrow, or Channel Down arrow to adjust the picture.

Had to get rf modulator and still cannot operate vcr will play but will not show tv shows followed dicections on connections but no results

RF modulators are designed to work on specific channels. ex: 03 & 04
Make sure your TV is set to that channel.

Also the VCR has the option to display live TV or VCR.
If you cant find how to switch to VCR usually putting in a tape and pressing play will automatically switch it on. Then you can see the VCR on the TV.

TV & DVD HookUp (No Box) Can't get picture

As far as I know, my Go Video machine when there was no box involved...

The cable came from the wall to the IN of the Go Video box. Then another cable coming from the OUT of the video box and to the IN to the TV. TV should be on channel 3. As far as I can remember, I don't need to push the TV/VCR button, but instead, have to channel down to below channel 2 on the TV to the LINE/INPUT selection. Once you go there, and the Go-Video machine is on, you should be able to see a clear picture.

You'll push the TV/VCR button if you want to toggle back and forth from the VCR picture to the TV picture (which will be technically blank since it's on the 'line input selection.)

Hope that helps.

Trying to help this older lady with a emerson tv/vcr combo. She has no manual with set. Setting up to record same station everyday at same time. VCR will record but when playing back she only gets sound no...

The TV should be on channel 2, 3, or 4 to work correctly. There might be a small switch on the back of the VCR that lets you select the channel that it wil play back on.

Also, look on the remote control for the VCR and see if there is a button labeled TV/Video, and press that while something is playing. This switches back and forth between the TV signal and the VCR signal and it could solve your problem.

27" Zenith Television

Assuming the picture tube lights up and you have snow when selecting the tuner function, I would first hook up a working VCR with a good tape and play it while the set is on channel 3 (if that is what your VCR is set to). If no sound or picture is displayed while the tape is playing,it could indicate a defective tuner. If you don't even get snow with no antenna connected (unless your set is designed to go to a blue screen with no signal present) then you could have a problem in the video processing circuits which would explain no picture with the RCA connections as well. This would probably make the set beyone economical repair.
