if you have tried using audio CD and still does the the same showing no disc then something is wrong with your laser pickup. if it already in use for at least a year then it should be the laser. but if it is new, it could be mechanical problem or switches.
You have the rating set on your DVD player to lower than the rating of the movie you are trying to watch.
Somewhere in your setup menu of your DVD player (press the "setup" button on the remote with disc stopped or no disc) you will find a place to set the parental lock. Either turn it off, if that is an option, or set it to the rating of the movie (or higher) to enable viewing.
I had the same problem but I solved buying "Laser Lens Cleaner " Philips Magnavox after 3 attempts the DVD starts to work fine again. First only 3 min, then 10 min and now the entire CD cleaner and after I left the CD cleaner for 15 min I tried to play the DVD and WORKS!!! perfect!!!
for god sake, i want to talk to customer support... you guys don't even have a 1-800 number posted....disgusting.....I am very upset with your cheap product...i guess i won't be buying protron dvd players from now on.....Whenever I put a dvd, it keeps on saying wrond disc and makes a wierd sound....please solve my problem and also give me your customer support phone number
that noise sounds like the focus is trying to see the disc as it has to focus to see or register there's a disc. Maybe the turntable slipped down a little or there's dirt or film on the lens. Good luck
