Screen not lighting up and staying black. (by 2 users)

posted by leora_ha on Jul 05, 2008

When I turn on the computer the screen doesn't light up or does so only partially (every few seconds something can be seen but then it stays black). If I try moving the mouse about - same thing - you can sort of see something but the screen eventually stays black. Same situation if coming out of hybrination. I usually manage to fix it if I take out and re plug the electrical cord but it takes a few times till it works. What's going on? Do I need to change the monitor or does it sound like something else is wrong? BTW, the green light on the screen is stays on the entire time. Thanks.
I have the same problem.

I have this monitor for 5 years now, and the same problem you described just happened to me. I attached another monitor that a friend of mine lend me, and this one worked just fine. So, I concluded that my monitor broke down, and also consulted with a technician who told me to buy a new monitor. My advise to you is to see first if another monitor works on your computer. If not, perhaps you should replace your graphic card (If you don't know how to do it yourself get a technician).
p.s - in my monitor the green light was also on, and flashed along with the monitor. so Azhar might be wrong about that.

I have exactly the same problem but when I plug in my AccuSync 70 it works just fine, since so many other people are having similar problems with the same monitor I don't think its got anything to do with the graphics card.

Perhaps they (forgive the untechnical terminology) "burn out".

if the green light is always on that means there is no prob concerning the power and the monitor itself. the problem seems to be coming from your graphic card..
try with another graphic card..

OR
you might not configure the screen resolution to the appropriate level..
can you run your pc correctly in safe mode??
