It is probably on airconditioning (cooling), if you have Toshiba remote it should be a picture of a sun meaning "Heat", never go for "Automatic" wich cools and heats succsessivly to maintain ONE temperature, go for "Heat" when its cold!

Should the direction of my fan be counter clockwise when I want to reverse it in the winter?

Hi, and no. The fan on the outdoor condenser always turns in the same direction on a heat-pump. What changes is what is called the reversing valve located by the compressor. It reveres the flow of freon in the winter on its own, with the help of the control board and thermostat. There is nothing for you to change but putting the thermostat into the heat mode, and the unit will do the rest. Good question though.

Hello, I have a rbha-17 electric heat system. My

the orange or blue wire should go to the heat pump and energize the reversing valve and the compressor should be running when the heat pump is on. All it does is reverse the flow of refrigerant and pull btu's from the outside air and deliver them to your house. Check to see if your aux. heat is coming on with the heat pump. If it is electric furnace, this will help explain why your bill is so high.
