Question about Televison & Video
I've heard there is a way to do it with a chip.
Some say DVD players can be changed by changing the region in the control panel setting however it typically disables playback unless it is programmed for the right region as listed on the back of the player as well as the owners manual.
The best way to do it is to use a DVD player on your computer. You can go into the properties of the DVD player and change the region that way.

BD media does have region codes. But, unlike current DVD players, the region codes for BD media use letters instead of numbers to indicate a particular zone or region where the discs can be played.
