Ican`t open mails always freezing and running very slow

Many things could cause your computer to run slow and experience freezing. Most commonly these problems come from malware and broken registries.
A simple solution to this problem is to use a registry cleaner and antivirus;
  • CCleaner is a free system optimization and privacy tool that erases Internet history and other unused files, and cleans up orphaned registry entries. It is the number-one tool for cleaning your Windows PC. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure. Easy to use and a small, fast download.

  • Use your antivirus program to perform a full system scan for malicious software.

If you feel that your antivirus is inadequate, then I recommend you use Microsoft Security Essentials. It is a free anti-malware solution that helps protect you against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

I dont have the cd. i bought it at a tag sale. and i just put it together and its asking me for a password. i dont know it. so i wanna restore it to factory settings so that it erases...

If you are locked out of the BIOS then you can try and find default passwords for the BIOS online which may work, otherwise you will have to open up the case and remove the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS password. If it is a password in Windows, you will either have to buy a copy of Windows and use that disc, or download software which will allow you to 'crack' the password. Be aware however that using this software on a computer which you do not have the right to is illegal. I hope this helps and have a nice day!

Is there a process by which this computer can be reset to its' factory settings erasing everything except factory installed programs? We purchased a new laptop and would like to give this to our son, but...

Yes there is, it depends on the brand. Lots of brands have what they call a restore partition that will restore the pc to its factory condition. Look for a message stating Press F11 or F12 for recover partition during the computers boot up. It will be during the blank and white part of the boot process (usually)

How do you reset an apple macbook laptop

Don't worry just follow the below steps and you will be able to fix your problem
Back up your information to an external medium such as an external hard drive or a flash drive. The install process allows you to transfer current files to a fresh operating system (OS) install, but it is always best to be prepared with a backup of your files in case something goes wrong.

Insert the first install CD or DVD of the operating system software.

Restart your Mac Book or Mac Book Pro. Immediately hold down the "C" key as the computer reboots. This will cause your Mac Book to boot from the CD or DVD you inserted.

See the "Welcome" dialog that asks you to pick a language. It may also ask you to agree to the terms and conditions of the software install. Depending upon which OS version you are using, you might see the software perform several checks on your system. If you do not see this, do not worry.

Choose where to install the OS. You're most likely going to select your primary hard drive. If you have one or more partitions on your hard drive, you can select any of them as long as they are large enough.

Choose your install. You'll be presented with three options: "Upgrade," "Archive and Install," and "Erase and Install."
Choose "Update" to simply update the current OS install on your Mac Book. All your data, files and programs will remain intact.
Choose "Archive and Install" if you need to back up all the data on your system and import it into a fresh install of the software. You will need to reinstall much of your non-Apple software if you choose this option.
Pick "Erase and Install" if you want to erase everything on your hard drive and install a fresh version of the OS. None of your data will remain if you pick this option. This is effectively a factory reset of your Mac Book, as none of your personal settings or data will remain.

Choose the right setting. If you choose "Archive and Install," be sure to check the box to preserve your user and network settings. This will ensure your previous profile data is installed in the new software installation. Once you've chosen an option, select it. Click "OK."

Relax. The Apple OS install will take care of everything from this point. You may be prompted along the way with a few questions, but the install should be mostly automatic. When the install is complete, your Mac Book will restart.

Restore your data. If you chose "Upgrade" or "Archive and Install," the software will prompt you to migrate your old data to the new system. Follow the instructions to ensure your old settings and programs are transferred to the fresh install of the software.

Have a great day

PC takes 3 to 5 minutes to boot - reduct it?

If you are using windows machine, go to start->run and type cleanmgr.exe and follow the instructions to clean up the junk and temporary files in your machine.
Also go to start->run and type msconfig and go to Startup tab and remove all the unnecessary startup items.
Also uninstall unwanted programs/applications from control panel (start->controlpanel) and go to add or remove programs / Programs and features based on your operating system version.
Now you can clean up your registry values using or some other software available in the market.
Once you have done this if you know you have many unused useless files in your machine remove then and do a fresh restart. Then defrag your drives using the utility available in windows (go to my computer and right click on the drive you need to defragment and then click on the properties in the pop down menu. Once you are in properties window go to tools tab and click on defragment now). After the defragmenting is complete you can restart your machine again and you will notice a significant performance boost.
More than everything you need to make sure your machine is malware free; viruses and malware are one of the major reasons for systems being slow. So run a thorough Antivirus and Anti Spyware checking using some standard antivirus software and anti spyware software.

Hope this will help you.
Best Regards NextDoorNerd
