On XP the camera is treated as a "removeable disk" and should appear as the E drive or higher.
If you connect the camera and hear a tone indicating a USB link was made but a new drive letter doesn't appear, run Add New Hardware in the Control panel with the camera still connected. XP won't find a driver but will allow you to set it up as a drive. Look for S880 by the USB icon with the exclaimation over it. Continue pass the "XP Logo" warnings. Requires a reboot as usual.

I have a sanyo vpc-s880 digital camera and when I turn it on it says protected card. What is a protected card? How do you fix it?

It's saying that because the lock switch on your memory card is in the 'locked' position, take it out and slide the small switch on the side to 'unlocked' (open padlock sign) position. then reinsert it and check.

Can not load pictures to pc VPC-S880

Hi,

I highly recommend that you instead consider using a card reader to move the photos or videos to your computer. Card reader's do not require software (although Windows 98 and earlier may require drivers), are very inexpensive, are much faster downloading files from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during the download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.Really, it would be better for the camera user if one of these was included with the camera instead of the cable and bundled software. You place the camera's card in the reader, plug the reader into the USB port, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For this simplicity, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache if you convert to using one of these. Also make sure that you get a reader that is clearly stated capable of reading your card, particularly if you use SD-HC, XD, CF, or MS cards.

Thank you!

You can use recovery software to undelete your pictures. 'RECUVA' is a good, free one.

Card error

Your camera wants you to format the card in the camera. This will completely erase the card so, if you have pictures on it, download them first using a card reader if necessary.

Hi

Easiest place for a part like this is Ebay. Here is a lot of 3 VPC-S800 cameras for parts with a day left to go and a bid of 2 dollars!

http://cgi.ebay.com/4H-Lot-of-3-Sanyo-VPC-S880-8-1MP-Digital-Camera-AS-IS_W0QQitemZ350245937651QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDigital_Camera_Accessories?hash=item518c48e1f3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Otherwise these parts could be difficult enough to obtain. You will need to put in a special order as these will not be carried in normal stock.

I have used these guys before for special orders. Try this email and hopefully you might just get a result
