How to Secure your Internet connection

This is very important to use high level of security in case of wireless networks. If only unsecured networks are available, take extra care with these steps-

Keep disable the option "automatically connect networks" to make sure you connect only to approve wireless access points.

Always turn off all file/folder and printer sharing while connecting network.

Keep switch off wireless card when you have not use such devices.

Be proactive about protecting your data and gear now. When your laptop or other device got stolen or lost, use recovery software, can help you to get it back but you have to set up the software first.

This can help you to secure installation of network connection.

It is asking for an access code to an access point . What is that?

Wireless networks can be secure or unsecure. Anyone can connect to an unsecure site simply by searching for available sites and choosing an unsecure one to connect to. There are inherit risks associarted with unsecure sites and you should NEVER do any financial or highly personal transactions on an unsecure network. Secure networks require a password (access code) to complete connection. This code is provided by the owner/administrator of the network. If you are allowed to connect to such a network, you should already be aware of the code. Otherwise you are basically not invited to the party.

Passphrase

ok....
it seems that you are tring to connect to someone elses secured network which means you will not be able to connect to this wireless network as it has security enabled in it and the passphrase is know to the person who has setup this network....what i can suggest is that you can try connecting to unsecured networks if it is available...if there is no networks unsecured networks available then you will not be able to connect to the internet wirelessly..
