it is your overflow .. there is water under in the dishwasher tray or the float is stuck in the up position.
you will have to remove the toe panel and get the water out from the tray or free the float ( sometimes soap gets under and sticks the float in the up position... let me know if there is water or stuck switch . hope it helps

SOURCE: Locked timer knob in GE Nautilus dishwasher

I ran into this problem earlierr today ....Check the float valve...it is a round looking device in the front (usually) of the DW...if this gets stuck it will (or may) get stuck in drain or in assist dry mode...push it up and down you should here a clicking noise. Take it out and see that there is no debris in it ...if so clean it ..and replace...then try the Dw.

I hopr this helped....good luck....thanks for rating my effort...The Fang.

SOURCE: I have a smeg dishwasher

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

So I think you will need a new program timer unit to be fitted to get the machine working. Please take estimate and decide.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

To replace check this link:

http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1293/how-to-replace-the-spraying-system-on-a-dishw.html

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Broken Timer? My OLD Kitchen Aid Quiet Scrub Dishwasher no longer advances through cycles automatically--I have to turn the knob manually for every step. It works fine other than that.

Hi Spring

All depends where you are and wether you can get Parts.
Is the timer accessible?
Timer is driven by a small clock motor.
Could it be fixed or lubricated.
Give it a service and save money!
Good luck

Smeg ST660 not starting

Switch the power off. Remove the 'built-in cupboard' panel from the front of the dishwasher and you should see the end of the timer spindle. With the power off you can turn this clockwise using another appliance knob or carefully with pliers. I think one 'start' position is with the flat section below the centre and horizontal. If the two lights are not on then try the 'start' button second from left to advance the timer.

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

I have this same model Smeg dishwasher. 1 = Soak - pans and dishes awaiting completion of the load. 2 = Strong - Very dirty pans and dishes dirt dried on. 3 = Normal - Normally dirty pans and dishes. 4 = Rinse - Dishes requiring "refreshing". If you would like a full copy of the user manual, send your address to "brockjack@g-node.com.au" and I will photocopy our manual for you.
