I have taken out the 3 screws and it LOOKS LIKE you just push the plastic part with the holes in it back and then pull it out the top. BUT, that's not what's happening and I'm afraid I'll break it. I'm going to look up the manual on line and see if that has any info in it.

What product have you purchased from this site? We are a collection of knowledgeable people who are not afilliated with any manufacture. While you have the OPTION of paying to work with someone live, if you leave your information posted for a day or two, one of us will generally get back to you with some FREE help.

Now on to your problem. While I don't know what model of maytag atlantis you have, these are the general guidelines for cleaning out under the lint screen area. The easiest approach is to buy a vaccume extension availible from appliance parts stores and some hardware stores. I have even seen a clean out kit for sale at bed, bath and beyond. Basically you fit the vaccume extension on to the end of you vaccume and feed it down to the area under the lint screen. To do a more efficent cleaning you would need to dis-assmble your dryer. If you can supply the model number located just inside the door, I could get you a step by step tear down to get to it from the inside.

Hi I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV975OA top loader. I cannot find a lint filter anywhere and my washing is coming out covered in lint. Can you tell me where the lint filter is so I can clean it? Thankyou

Hi gmallard, it doesn't have a lint collector. This machine is a piece of junk. We're going out today to buy a new one after years of brushing down our clothes with lint brushes. I'll put the Maytag in the shed to wash my dogs pillows etc. (about all it's good for)

This Maytag Atlantis heats too hot; I cleaned off all the lint deposit from the drier itself and from the ducts, but it is still too hot, with heat coming out even in fluff. please help.

There are high/heat limit switches in the rear near the heating element. The switch needs to be replaced because its not shutting the heat off when it reaches correct temperature. Rear of dryer needs to be disassembled for this repair...............

The dryer "lintfilter" light comes on and the dryer stops- however the lint filter is totaly clean and free from lint. how do I fix this? Sue

Sue -- LINTFILTER light without visible LINT means that either A: the internal (or exhaust) lint pathway is blocked or B: the sensor that makes sure the unit does not "overheat" is malfunctioned. Check the dryer output hose to make sure it is not plugged. Get your vacuum cleaner and make sure there is no lint buildup below the lintfilter screen. If you need more help, please ask. -- SWT

Check local HD, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, etc. for a Dryer vent cleaning kit. Among other items, there is a flat tube attachment which connects to your vacum hose allowing you to get into the lint filter area.

the flame going out is normal. the heat cycles on and off as called for by the thermostat. If the heat doesn't come back on i would start by changing the gas coils.

Maytag Electric Dryer Atlantis MDE7600AY

sounds like you have a restricted vent . check not only the hose but also the house venting. usually clogged at the screen or flapper outside. another ppular place for a buildup is the inlet under the lint screen. without proper airflow lint collects on element. take care of the quickly as it could lead to a fire.
