Question about GE Dishwashers
Dishwasher fills with water and then stops
On most older Ge dishwashers this usually means a locked up motor. You should be able to hear it hum when it tries to start. The shaft between the pump and motor gets rusty, swells and locks up the motor. You can sometimes coax it to life for a little while by removing the front panel and spinning the fan in the motor by hand. Sometimes this lasts a couple of months. This problem usually shows up when it has not been used for a while. A new motor costs around $100 and is usually not worth fixing. It is very easy to install though. But you do have to completely remove the dishwasher to do so.
