Try this one...
If you go to start > right click 'my computer' > manage
then go to device manager.
find Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Find the USB one that your ipod is plugged into. (if you dont know, do next step for all)
Right click that hub or item, and select uninstall. It will ask you if your sure click yes.
Once thats done, at the top where the buttons are, click the computer with a magnifying glass in front of it. it will search for new hardware (which is your usb things in your computer you just uninstalled) and will install them.
If still not detected there's something really wrong with it so better take it to a repair center and let them check the IPOD.

Hope that helps.........

You Receive a "USB Device Not Recognized" Error Message When You Resume Your Computer from Suspend or Hibernation

To work around this issue, try one of the solutions below:

    1. Unplug the USB device. It is possible that the connection is not secure and has become loose. This is one
of the most common reasons for an error in detecting a USB device.

    2. Use the Device Manager to scan for new and recently installed hardware. From the start menu, select the 'Run'
option. In the pop up box, type in Devmgmt.msc and then click 'Ok'. From the 'Action' Mmnu, click 'scan for hardware
changes'. This will make Windows recognize any new devices that are installed. Now, close all device managers and
control panels. Now see if your computer will read the USB device.

If that doesn't work, here is another option you can try:

Disable power management of the USB hub. To disable the power management on the USB hub, follow these steps:

    • Click Start, and then click Run.

    • Type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.

    • Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers' node, and then follow these steps for each USB Root Hub that
      is listed:

    • Right-click the USB Root Hub and then click Properties.

    • Click the Power Management tab.

    • Click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK.

Please don't forget to rate this solution.

Sometimes, simply unplugging the USB device and turning off the computer for twenty minutes and then restarting may solve the issue. If none of the above options have solved the problem, check the manufacturer's website for new driver information. It is possible that your drivers need to be updated.

Restore the iPod using iTunes. If that doesn't work, if it is less than a year old you may take it back and Apple will give you a new one free of charge unless you did something to it like you dropped it or it got in the water.

Ipod freezes when i go to connect it to my computer or charge

even if the screen is blank it definatly should charge, then enst thing i could recommend is to possibly reinstall the ipod firmware or if your daring enough to turn it into a rockbox. google rockbox and you will find that it is free ipod software that many people find better than apple's actual software.

It is locked up

Maybe i shud start by explaining why most Ipods freeze or crash. When you unplug you ipod improperly this may and usually causes the itunes software to crush and stop functioning. The softwares corrupts and cant function. So you probably cant enjoy ua music.
With the viruses in your computer its easily to infect your ipod since ipod is a mass storage device also. Some viruses have a way of freezing the itunes software.

When it comes to restoring your ipod you need a computer that is not infected with viruses. you need to format your ipod if it cant be restored directly from the internet. After the ipod is completely formated which means you have done away with the viruses/all the songs you can restore it with itunes.

But there is also a way of recovering songs from your ipod before formating or restoring since if you format you get to loose all ua files without recovering them.

But the biggest problem is when your ipod is not even recognized by your computer. But if your computer can recognize your ipod as a mass storage even if its not syncing your music, there is a possibility restore it to normacy. The only rist is loosing all your data, but with an expert you dont have to loose anything.

Ipod 80g problem

Hey Sader201,

If your iPod has been freezing on the Apple screen, you may wish to try resetting your iPod by doing the following:

1) Slide the "Hold" switch to "On," and then "Off" again.

2) Press and hold the "Menu" and "Select" buttons at the tame time until the Apple logo appears. This may take six to eight seconds to happen, and you may need to repeat this step.

Resetting your iPod should retain all of your music and other files, but please keep in mind that you may lose some of your customized menu settings.

If a reset does not resolve the problem, I would strongly suggest visiting Apple's support database for more information through the link I've provided below.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
