SOURCE: port forwarding? 2wire 2701hg-T
access your gateway homepage by opening your internet browser and typing this on the address bar: 192.168.1.254/management. then key in your system password and click on Settings under Firewall. there's option#2 (allow individual applications), click on "Add a new-user defined application", input the data and click submit another way is to enable DMZ plus mode. that option would actually make all the ports open. use this if option#2 is not working. after making the above changes refresh your router, just unplug then replug it from the power.

>on the bottom, u shud see the MTU number
** i searched online and accdg to xbox tech support, ur MTU should be in the range of 1364 to 1500 **
>click on submit after u change the setting
just in case youve entered the correct MTU setting but it still does not work, u might need to contact either xbox or ur internet service provider.

SOURCE: Can I use 2WIRE 2701HG-B router in COX internet connection
No. A router has 2 main interface types WAN (for the internet connection side, and LAN (for the home network side) the 'LAN' side often has up to 4 ports and wireless connectivity for the home network.
The most common routers available at electronics retail use a CAT-5 connection for the WAN ports and the LAN ports. Your DSL modem/router uses a phone line input for it's WAN port, which uses a signal type that is incompatible with the cable modem output.
If COX doesn't offer a router with the cable modem package, you can go and purchase and common brand of home networking router, and attach it to the output of the cable modem.

I purchased Netgear's Wall-Plugged wireless bridge (WGX102 ). Worked very nicely.
SOURCE: 2701HG-G firmware upgrade
Yes you can upgrade by buying the home networking package. It's $80. Otherwise you will have to upgrade your service. They're giving these modem/routers away free with upgrades.
or Found it...looks like my capped rate is 3008. that is their profile rate they've limited me to, or the maximum my connection can get.
