Question about SpeakerCraft Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Sound controls I have a Speakercraft powered subwoofer BassX10 connected to a Denon receiver. I don't have a clue as to how to adjust the front knobs to produce the best sound. The owner's manual doesn't really help me. I don't know where to start and how to know to keep from really messing it up. Thanks, Ann stella49@cox.net

Start by connecting speaker like the book-then you make setup for all your speaker and confirm that all in on status-check your cable for bad cable(short circuit-or open circuit)-you can insert the speaker one by one if you are in doubt that something wrong.

I need to connect the sub to my denon amp, can I get a cable to do this?

It all depends on the subwoofer; powered, or not powered. Most receivers have a low level output connection, 300millivolts: via an RCA type jack, labeled Subwoofer Output. With some of older subwoofers, you connect your speaker terminals from your Denon, to the subwoofer. From the subwoofer, you connect the output terminals to your front speakers. Need wiring diagram for bass w x 10

You have not mentioned what equipment you would like to connect to this active subwoofer.
Assuming you have an AV Receiver, you will require a single long RCA to RCA subwoofer cable. Connect the left input (white socket ) of the subwoofer to the AV Receiver subwoofer pre output.
Leave the front crossover knob at 100Hz , Phase at 0. While playing an audio track slowly increase the subwoofer front volume to suit your taste. If you are using big floor standing speakers along with the subwoofer reduce the crossover frequency to 70Hz. Phase should be adjusted to blend the front speakers with the sub.bobhifi_6.jpg

I purchase a denon AVR-591 & now i am using speakers from a kenwood home theater system but know all of the speakers work except the subwoofer does not, know the swbwoofer input has a wire Plus Minus...

Take a clue from the bare wire speaker connections on a speaker not matching RCA connectors. RCA is not for feeding +/- speaker terminals on REAL audio equipment.

The Denon requires an active (self-amplified) subwoofer which it feeds a specialized Low Frequency Line Level Pre Out signal.

Disassembling the parts of HTS and reassigning them to other makes and models is unwise and unpredictable electrically and sound-wise.

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

We have our subwoofer hooked up to our Denon AVR-787, but not getting any sound from it. I'm sure it's some knob we need to turn or button to push.... All other speakers are working Help?! We're not...

press setup/configuration on your remote you'll get configuration menu, then goto 'speaker configuration' check if the subwoofer is on, check that front speakers and others are set as small. There also could be subwoofer mode settings, remember current setting and try to change it.

Power amp 2 channel connection to Denon a/v amp

You don't mention which AR amp we're talking about.

I think you're trying to say you want to know where to extract the front channels from the Denon to feed the AR amp. Right?

That would be an output on the Denon to an input on the AR.

Basically, take an RCA cable pair from the Denon's Pre Out F & L and connect them to the (presumed) L & R inputs on the unnamed amp.

Set the AR amp at a reasonably high volume (if it has a volume knob) and leave it alone. Run through the speaker level adjustments on the Denon to match the Front to everything else and it will control the volume going forward.

Unable to get my sub to work with my Denon AVR 1506 Receiver

Did it ever work? Are you certain the sub is getting a signal. It has to be defined. How about the speaker levels adjustment? Did that work? Give us a clue.

AVR-1910 & Bose Lifestyle 35 setup

Bose Lifestyle (and all Bose-amplified speaker) products and their speakers are SYSTEMS and should not be split up or intermixed with other brands or models. Damage will probably result. Proprietary connectors provides a clue.

The digital audio out should work with the Bose. You could still use your Denon to drive a conventional sub in your scheme, but you would have to manually match volume with the Bose. Or go Full Monty and buy a full complement of speakers for the Denon, retask the Bose and slave its sources to the Denon.

Simple question?? how do I connect my Panasonic subwoofer to my denon receiver?

I have a very similar problem with the same exact Panasonic sub. I went to Best Buy and Radio Shack looking for an adapter, and they basically told me that one does not exisit. Apparently, Panasonic designed the home theater system specifcally so that it could not work if any part of the entire system was ever seperated.

I have Harman Kardon speakers and subwoofers connected to a Denon AVr 1508 receiver. All my five speakers are working but my subwoofer doesnt work. I m pretty sure I have connected the subwoofer properly...

There is a setting under your speaker setup to turn the subwoofer on. If speakers are set to small it auto matically sets the subwoofer to ON. If the speakers are set to large it turns the subwoofer off but you can manually adjust.
