Question about Gateway GT4022 PC Desktop
I have searched and found two people with similiar problems to mine. The computer just won't boot up. It's getting power, I can hear the HD start working, and the power supply is not the issue as I tried a different one and that one didn't work either. As soon as I plug the power cable into the back of the machine, it starts powering up without me even hitting the power button. No signal is sent to the monitor, and the computer does get as loud as it does when it normally starts up. I'm thinking this is a motherboard problem.
If indeed it is a motherboard problem, do I have to get another Gateway motherboard, or can I replace it with a any brand I want?
I had the same problem. I took it to get worked on by a local computer repair shop and was told it was the motherboard. This was JUST over a year after I bought it and of course it was just a year warranty, not a year and two weeks. No exeptions said gateway. So I had a new one put in,157 for the board, 90 day warranty ONLY! Guess what? A year later, exact same thing. Reluctantly I had them replace it again. This time 170 for board 90 day warranty. So if it happens again I'll throw it on the ground and run over it a dozen times and then throw it in the river. I'll buy a Dell. Hope this helps!

- second was i was trying to overclocking my computer and bam is shut down, i turn it on again, the fan keep running faster than normal and not slowing down hehe screen doesnt turn on either. how i fix it was unplug the power of ur computer, hit the power buttom couple to let the the power in ur computer run out, plug the power back in and problems fixed. Well, I think gateway is just a computer manufacturer, so if you are still under warranty, you could possibly get a replacement. But before doing anything, and if you are comfortable with doing so, open up the side of the casing, and take a look around, see if any cables seem unconnected.
