Question about Nikon Coolpix L1 Digital Camera

My camera is not starting at all

My Mikon CoolPIX L1 camera is not starting at all. The camera is only 4 month old and I have used it two week before at that time it was working fine. I kept the battries inside the camera and now it's not starting at all. I tried using new battris but in vain. It's in warranty but there is no service center in my city so posting this as to if there could be any known issue of this type. I push the on/off button. The green light comes on but the camera does not come on and green light goes off.

camera not starting at all when off on button pressed. No light either. Changed batteries and pressed down on battery compartment

Same thing except mine is much older...
It's getting power. The batteries are fresh. I press the power button and the green light comes on for a second or less. The screen flashes white and the start-up tune starts to play then everything shuts off and there is a letter and the () from the start-up screen "burned" onto the screen. There is usually also a black line across the screen. After everything is off it takes about 9 seconds for the "burned" on image to fade.

The battery door shuts tight. NOT the problem.
I'm in Florida. I was out after Tropical Storm Fay taking pictures... the problem started soon after. I never got water directly on the camera... but it is a high humidity environment and every time I left the house the lens fogged up.

The first time it happened I put in fresh batteries and it worked again. I took 4-5 pictures then let it sit. Now the problem is back...

My only guess... and I hope I'm wrong is there is a short somewhere that is draining the batteries prematurely.

If Nikon can cover it under warranty, they must be able to replace your camera by swapping it out in the mail for a new one.

Here is their support website:

Try and hold down the battery cover and see if it is loose lots of times digital cameras will do that.

My Nikon L29 has blank screen, i've replaced batteries but screen still blank...Is the camera faulty I've only had it for 3 months?

Try plugging in a USB to see if the camera still responds. If it is only three month old I would simply contact Nikon and get them to replace it under warranty.

Nikon Coolpix: can't charge battery

Charge up the battery. Most digital cameras use a lithium battery and the battery needs to be removed from the camera and inserted into a charge adapter to be charged.

S4100 Coolpix. memory messages when reviewing photos on SDHC

No, your camera cannot use SDHC cards. It's only a 4 megapixel camera so a 2GB SD card will hold hundreds of pics.

I cannot copy pictures to my computer from my camera, i see Mikon icon in My computer list but when I click it I get a message that my computer does not recognize it. I have copied and transferred pictures...

It may be time to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Hi!
It sounds like the lens focus is stuck. If you don't have experience in camera repairs, you should give it for a repair to your local Nikon service center or other camera service center.

Problems taking pictures

Typically when that happens your auto focus sensor has become dirty and it takes longer to focus on your subjects. Make sure both your lens and AF sensor are completely clean. Use a soft high thread count cotton cloth to wipe them clean.

Mikon Coolpix 2100

My camera freezes like this when the battery starts to run low. I think it has something to do with the flash. I just leave it to sort itself out for a few minutes even though I'm usually missing some good photo opportunities n eventually it sorts itself out. Trick is not to keep turning it on and off, and fiddling with the dial.

My camera is not starting at all

I had the same problem. Almost brand new. Would turn it on and would last only 2-3 seconds, couldn't even complete one picture. Suddenly, I put in fully charged batteries and now it works! I had tried these before. The only difference was I used the batteries in another device and returned them to recharge. Just last night I decided to try once more and the charged batteries worked. No problems since with power, except now I can't get images to transfer! I did notice one little line in instructions I had never seen than when you change batteries, you have to program the camera with type used.
