If it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or
close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

There is a small lamp on the edge of the carousel at 6 oclock. Or in your case...there isn't. :) That counts the carousel position and as it is not lit the machine doesn't know where position zero is. Change the lamp.
Look at the switch and solenoid assembly at 1 oclock on the carousel. That is what activates to set it going and it then clocks off a ratchet wheel to do two full cycles looking for a selection then stops. If it gets stuck the carousel wont stop.
