Stripe appeared when taking picutre with SAMSUNG L730

The shutter is jammed open - in picture mode it overexposes and gives the white stripes, in video the shutter stays open and the camera sets the expsoyre, so appears OK. New lens unit will be required.

How do I take a picture with my d40 using the remote?

Set the Shooting mode to one of the two remote modes. Quick-response remote shoots the picture as soon as you press the button, Delayed-response remote waits two seconds to allow you to hide the remote behind your back.

Shooting Mode is on page 32 of my copy of the manual.

Took extraordinary pictures with nikon d40 but can't edit them

You have your camera set to RAW format. It is not a compressed file, it is a full size file. Opening this in editing programs will either crash your computer or will refuse to open because of the size of the file. They are not damaged but your computer cannot handle the files. You should take them to a photo shop and have them put the files on a cd and consult your manual to change your camera to JPEG format.

My d40 has a image in viewfinder, will not take picture.

What lens are you using with the D40? Is it an AF-S lens? And is the Mirror Lockup on? Chech the Custom Settings menu. If mirror lockup is on, turn it off.

It sounds to me that you are using an incompatible lens or a broken one. Does this happen with the lens that came with the camera?

You CAN!!! shoot in b/w with a d40, the only thing is you can't shoot in auto mode it has to be manual , aperture priority, or shutter prioirity. Go into menu - shooting mode - optimize image. you'll find it in there.

make sure you are using lenses with built in motors. not all lens type work with the d40 as the camera does not have a motordrive in the body.

Nikon d40 digital camera

When the camera is in auto focus mode, it will not take the picture until it locks onto a subject. If there is not enough light, the camera will "hunt" for something to focus on. Since it can't define any edges, it won't allow the shutter to release.

The D40 base model does NOT have a powered focus lever for autofocus, so if the autofocus is not working, suspect the lens.
