Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have been given a rear projection tv (model below), as the previous owner updated to a plasma. when the unit is switched from 'standby' to 'on' the orange light flashes a number of times then returns to standby. Initially I thought it required a new lamp, which I replaced. Now, upon looking in the back of the unit I have found a 9 wire connector which is connected to the printed circuit board ' driver' at 'P1101' . The wire is not connected at the other end and I can not find an empty slot to connect to. The wire is only approx 100mm long so the connector cannot be too far away?

Any pointers greatly appreciated,

SMPS power board has packed up. Mine did it about 2 years ago and has just done it again. DC bus should be between 360 and 400 volts dc. Mine was up around 420.

No,this thing come in as a whole tv unit, dosen't come aparts.U check the tv,see if it work, before going all the troubles moving it to another room. These DLP tvs design are notorious for it tv convergence problems and DM power supply board intermittently shutdowns alots. It bulky design and not work for free DTV over the air.

My tv is showing the green light but the screen is still black. what should i do?

If your tv is RCA P52926 then it is rear projection tv that does not have a Lamp inside, this rear projection tv three picture tubes to make picture/ image on front screen.
I disagree with previous expert given info about Lamp in this tv.
Since tv is an old model so it might got problem in deflection circuit or power supply stop working properly that is why tv is not turning On to show you picture.
Local tv repair shop will help you to get it fix.

I have a 2004 Samsung 63" TV. I inherited it from the previous house owner and think it is a plasma. Is it safe to switch of the selectable fan, which makes a noise when it is on?

If it is the model you have this listing under which is HL-O5063W...It's a DLP not a Plasma. And From what I do know about mine, the buzzing very silently is normal, but when it gets annoying and loud, that's when you have a problem with a part. You probably had it "inherited" because they knew it was on the way to having problems and were probably just wanting to get rid of it. I would keep your fans on for this model...There are 2 that I know of for this model. The overall unit can generate a lot of heat in the rear panel area, so personally it's better to play safer vs. sorry. I would have it checked out to know what you're in for later. Kinda like maintaining a car, you ur still have to maintain your tv to be optimal. Not a big Deal. 6 yrs for a model like this is good. Mine has been overall pretty good to me. Hope this helps. Good luck

We have a Samsung pch521r that was given to my son, we can turn it on but we are not able to get a picture. We cannot even set any settings on the tv. Please Help! My son was so excited to get this tv!

I am sure that it was given because the former owner knew there was a fault!

Very commonly the power supply or high voltage sections fail in these. The tubes in projection sets also go weak and cause failure.

If the set is more than 5 years old it will not be worth investing any money in to it. TV's are not very expensive these days. You should buy your son a nice TV set that he can enjoy. The LCD and Plasma displays will far outperform any of these older projections sets.

This set is a HD plasma tv and convergence is done differently than the rear projection tv's,rear projection tv's have convergence Ic's and you can adjust the color but not on this unit.

Samsung SPT-521J Losing Color

There is a large shielded module mounted vertically on the signal board (leftside when looking from rear) You need to resolder all the connections. This is a very common issue............Good Luck
