Gateway LT2503u 10.1-Inch Netbook - Sesame Black (99802036669) Logo
Anonymous Posted on Dec 23, 2010

Bought a Gateway Netbook LT25 loaded with Windows XP. Was told by the salesman that I could upgrade to Windows 7, so I bought the software. Somehow, I screwed up the directions & ended up with Windows 7 but no drivers for Vedio, Ethernet & Network controllers and no way to back out to XP (that I see). Gateway support told me to buy XP recovery discs or pay for their tech support to help me & said there are no Windows 7 drivers for this model and that I can't download any drivers (?). Need some help.......

I neglected to mention that I don't have internet access from the netbook after my upgrade.

Try updating Win 7. Go to Programs and find Windows Update.

Microsoft might be able to provide the drivers automatically.

Afterwards visit www.intel.com/support/detect.htm

And run their auto detect tool. It works best if you run in Internet Explorer ;)

If you're still missing stuff, let me know and I'll help you track down what's left.

Yeah that makes a difference ;)

Usually Win 7 is pretty good about installing ethernet drivers. Can you check to see if a wired internet connection will work?

Didn't work. Says I need to load network adapter driver.

I want to install windows xp on dell inspiron mini 1018 but i am not able to install.some blue screen comes.please help

turn off your antivirus before you try to revert back to xp. your system antivirus might see this as an attack on your windows 7,thus it won't allow you to install a different system.

Hi, im trying to install windows 7 ultimate onto my gateway. I bought it retail from best buy and am having problem with the install... is it factory set for me not to be able to install an operating...

If you bought a full retail version and not an upgrade, you may need to do a fresh installation of windows. You also need to make certain that your gateway model is able to upgrade to windows 7. Checking your computer's support page, there are no BIOS updates available. Your computer should be fully capable of upgrading to windows 7 from windows Vista. ALso looking at Gateway's support page for this model, there are no drivers offered for Windows 7. All drivers offered are for windows Vista. I have seen computers in the past that will not tolerate an operating system change from the system that was installed at the factory.

If you have a restore partition, you can back up your data, and do a clean install of windows after formatting your hard drive. You may also want to make recovery disks for your computer in case the Win 7 will take on your computer or you cannot get your hardware to work with Win 7 since Gateway offers no Win 7 drivers.
Good luck. Take precautions to back up data and be able to revert to your original factory settings if necessary.

GMfPSU21W6 usb print server support windows 7 & Vista

When I upgraded from XP to Windows 7, Iogear tech support told me that they had no intention of offering Windows 7 support for my GMFPSU22W6, so I dumped it and bought a D-Link DPR-1260 instead.

Need to load xp on gateway

Do you have a full installation disc or an Upgrade version of XP? The full install should give you an option for partitioning and formatting the new hard drive as part of the installation process. From Microsoft, read this page for details:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348 . You may need some additional drivers if you have a SATA hard drive. More screen shots and details are here: http://www.theeldergeek.com/hard_drives_03.htm .

An alternative way of dealing with the problem may be to use a third-party Partition Manager software (Symantec's Partition Magic, Paragon's Partition Manager). Paragon's site is
http://www.partition-manager.com/ . This site has various levels of Partition Management software (with different features available in the more expensive versions). You'll need the bootable CD version of the software (recovery disc, .iso) to do the partitioning.

I hope this helps.

(I thought the upgrade version could also be done to a new hard disc including the partitioning; all you needed was a Win OS disc from an earlier version to prove qualifying ownership.)

Need product key for '07

The dealer has probably supplied you with a pirated copy of 07 - illegally upgraded the XP installation to a Windows 7 one.

Frankly, I'd rather downgrade the system to XP, which I feel it's much lighter on system resources and battery - which is important for a netbook.

Otherwise, contact Microsoft. Their Italian office gave me a Vista Ultimate product key (instead of the XP I asked, since XP was at "end of life") and even sent me the box with the license, at no cost. They DID insist on getting the details of the sad excuse for a shop where first I got saddled with a different product than the one I had paid for, and then laughed after when I went back to protest or at least have my money back.

As a last chance and if you like the risk, heck, just google for "windows 7 serials". But you risk your Windows 7 installation being shut off without warning some weeks from now by some sneaky Microsoft update.

Downloaded window 7 on my netbook and forgot to backup before installing i had xp

Sadly, there is no direct upgrade path for XP (pro or home) to Windows 7, only Vista. Windows 7 from XP requires a clean install.

Still, check the hard drive and see if Windows 7 moved the files to another location. It installs differently from XP or Vista and there may be a chance they are still somewhere on the drive. Use the search feature to look for a known file and see what happens.
