I know how hard it feels when you want to communicate with others using Yahoo! Messenger and you can not because the message you type will not appear on chat window. And even the message that your friend send to you will not appear.

Dr, this problem is usually caused by an Internet Explorer glitch that block the execution of the scripts in Yahoo Messenger.

You can fix the error by enabling the scripts in Internet Explorer.

Here is what you must do to repair the problem and to assure that it will not appear again:

First, download the latest Internet Explorer version 8 and install in your computer.
To download, go to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home - choose the operating system you are using before hitting the Download button. Once downloaded, run the application to install Internet Explorer version 8. Once completely installed, run the Internet Explorer.

Secondly, enable the scripts in the Internet Explorer.
While Internet Explorer is running, press the Tools menu and navigate to select Internet Options.
When an Internet Options window appears, select on Security tab. Click on the Internet Globe icon and press Custom Level... button.
When Security Settings - Internet Zone window appears, scroll down and navigate to ActiveX controls and plug-ins and Scripting.
Make sure the following is enable:
Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins
* Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting - enable
Under Scripting
* Active scripting - enable
* Scripting of Java applets - enable
Once it is enable, press the OK button. Press Apply button and hit OK. Close the Internet Explorer.

Lastly, if your Yahoo Messenger is running, you must restart it. Please, you do not need to reboot your computer.
Then, try opening a chat window and type a few words before hitting Enter. See if your message finally appear.

in your list of contacts in the messenger, you click the name of your grandson and then there will pop-up an instant message. you can type in the instant messages and then click the enter in the lower right. if you want to call your grandson same thing you will do just right click on his name and it will appear a task.. it might be call.. then you can click the call and wait for the response.. if you do this process.. it should be that your grandson appears to be online or else it will not respond..thank u:)

RE INSTALL YAHOO MESSENGER

No need to download yahoo multi messenger. Just need to configure your system registry to let your system load as many yahoo messenger window and sign in as many user name you want at once.

Follow these steps.

1. On your windows, click Start and select Run
2. On the box type regedit and click OK
3. On the left part of the page, double click HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Under it, double click Software
5. Under Software, double click yahoo
6. Under yahoo, double click pager
7. Under pager, double click Test
8. On the right part of the page, right click with your mouse, select new then select DWORD value.
9. A "New Value #"1 will appear, right click on this and click rename. Replace it with "Plural" and hit enter key
10. Double click Plural, and replace value data with 1 and hit OK.

Close the registry editor and restart your computer.

Now try to open as many yahoo messenger window as you want and enter your multiple id and it will log on in every ym window you want.

correct me if i am wrong here.. seems to me when u might have tried to install it on ur computer the first time.. there might have been a connection error.. and the installation stopped.. now u need to delete the temp files and all the cache of ur computer to be able to reinstall the program again.. to do so .. in Start Search window type the following instructions.. %temp%.. hit enter and clear all the files there.. then type .. prefetch.. and hit and enter and clear go to Computer .. C:.. then go to Program files and delete Yahoo there.. and go to common files and delete traces of yahoo of there.. once ur done with this.. then try to install mngr again.. i am pretty much sure it should resolve the issue.. if not let me know.. regards, guru:-P

In the window that opens, click "Finish" to uninstall. 5. Click the "Start" menu and select "Run" again. 6. Type in "%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\" and press Enter. 7. Delete the "Messenger" folder.

For VIsta:
1. Click the "Start" menu and select "Run." If you do not see the Run command, then select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run. 2. Type in "appwiz.cpl" and press Enter. This opens "Programs and Features." 3. Select "Yahoo! Messenger" and click "Uninstall." 4. Click the "Start" menu and select "Run" again. 5. Type in "%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\" and press Enter. 6. Delete the "Messenger" folder.
