Canon CanoScan LiDE 60 not recognized by iMac or Mac Powerbook Laptop

Using Mac OS X "Leopard" 10.5.4 - scanner simply not recognized by iMac or Mac Powerbook laptop.  Used to work just fine.  Now, when plugging in USB cable, scanner seems "asleep" i.e., no sound, light or motion.  Help!

I have the same, but using a conon Lide 25, it used to work but seems to have a problem with the leopard, have downloaded and installed new drivers which has no effect. Still dead.

Running OSX 10.5.5 on macbook pro - scanner wont detect driver or communicate. Has worked OK but since new driver download to get up to new OS this has happened. Application to use scanner is canoscan and then arcsoft photostudio.

No, the System Profiler shows no scanner.

I used my Canon LiDE 200 the other week. Now double-checked with a LiDE 60, still no reaction.

I have version 10.5.6 of the iMac.

Same issue: iMac will not communicate with Canon Lide200 through USB port on the rear of the iMac. A recent sw update must have broken this. The only current solution is to attach the scanner to an unused USB port on the keyboard.

Does not recognise the scanner with the toolbox delivered by Canon

Canon liDE 25 connected to a Mac PowerBook, used to work just fine, now the scanner does not power up (it used to make sound etc when plugged in) and my software says nothing is plugged in (several programs were tested). It unlocked and pushing the function buttons do nothing. I tried two USB cables.
    Any thoughts? It seems dead.

I have the same problem with the LIDE 200 and LIDE 500F as well. Tried installing the drivers several times to no avail. Canon listed a solution for this (copy "TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb" file to Library/CFM support folder. No difference. The scanner is recognized by the System Profiler and yet no response. I tried with several programs to access - MPX navigator, Image Capture, etc. Any help?

the scanner shows up in the About this Mac -- but no apps recognize it, it acts as if it was dead or sleeping - no connectivity at all on Mac.

Is the scanner detected in Apple System profiler? If so, what applications have you tried to access the scanner from?

Lide 60 not working in mountain lion

Guide to installing Canon CanoScan LiDE 35, 50 and 60 on Mac OS X 10.8. Mountain Lion:

FIRST PART: DELETING OLD LiDE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE

  • If this is the first attempt to install the scanner, skip this part

  • Trash the following files/folders from these folders:

HD:/Library/Image Capture/Twain Data Sources

delete the CanoScan CanoScan XXXX.ds file

(Make note of any other files that may be in this folder. If other files are present, move them to the desktop for now. Then place them back after successfully using the scanner.)

HD:/Library/Preferences

delete the 'CanoScan XXXX' folder

HD:/Users/Shared

delete the folders containing the name CanoScan, or starting with CNQL.

HD:/Applications

delete the CanoScan Toolbox Application

HD:/Users/YOUR-MAC-USERNAME/Library/Preferences

delete any items named "CanoScan Toolbox"

  • Restart your computer, then empty the trash

SECOND PART: MAKING YOUR SCANNER WORK

  • Make sure your scanner is well connected

  • Download the right driver depending on your Model. Also download the Scanner Software. Copy the filenames and search them via Google. Make sure you download the Canon files from an official Canon domain.

CanoScan LiDE 50 and LiDE 35 work both with the 35 driver:

lide35osx7721en.dmg

CanoScan LiDE 60 driver:

lide60osx11131en.dmg

VueScan Software:

http://www.hamrick.com/#download

VueScan 9.2 (or later) x32 for Mac OS X

Alternative to VueScan: CanoScan Toolbox. I prefer VueScan.

Try your luck with Version 4 or Version 5.

CanoScan Toolbox 4: cstbosx4934ej4.dmg

CanoScan Toolbox 5: cstbosx5014ej4.dmg

  • Open the downloaded driver file (lide35osx7721en.dmg or lide60osx11131en.dmg)

  • and Double-click the ScanGear file, install and restart when prompted

  • Open the downloaded VueScan file (vuex3292.dmg) and drag the VueScan application to the Mac Applications folder

  • Open the VueScan application. The scanner should be recognized automatically.

(Alternatively try and install CanoScan Toolbox 4 or 5)

I cannot find a Canoscan N1220Udriver for Mac OS

Canon has indicated that N1220U will not be supported under Mac OS X 10.6.x (Snow Leopard). The only practical way to continue using the scanner under Snow Leopard is to buy the third party scanner software, VueScan (US$39.99).

Installing CanoScan Lide 20 / Lide 30 into Mac OS X 10.5.5

I found this scanner at a garage sale today, and had trouble finding this info myself. Finally stumbled upon this site ( http://cadwell.livejournal.com/39545.html )

I'm using it on a Powermac G5 but both the driver and toolbox app say they are univeral binary. Hopefully this gets you up and running too:

CanoScan LiDE 30 on Mac OS X 10.5
This technical help may seem completely out of place on this art blog but after scouring the internet for 3 hours trying to set my 6 year old scanner up on my new MacBook, I found this info half way down a lengthy comments section of a random blog. So I thought I'd post it here (slightly altered) as a message in a bottle to anyone else in need of it.

How to set up CanoScan LiDE 30 on Mac OSX 10.5
STEP 1:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=6623
STEP 2:
Select MAC OS X
STEP 3:
Download BOTH:
LiDE 20/LiDE 30 Scanner Driver Ver. 7.0.1.1aX
(Mac OS X)

lide20lide30n670un676un1240uosx7011aen.dmg
CanoScan Toolbox Ver. 4.1.3.0X
(Mac OS X)

CSTb4130MXE.dmg.gz
STEP 4:
INSTALL CanoScan Toolbox Ver. 4.1.3.0X
STEP 5:
INSTALL LiDE 30 Scanner Driver Ver. 7.0.1.1aX . Make sure Applications>CanoScan Toolbox 4.1>Plug-Ins is selected as the install location.
STEP 6:
You will be asked to RESTART. You should.
STEP 7:
When you run CanoScan you can choose Photoshop as the default program to open the image in once it has scanned. You do not need Photoshop to open using Rosetta for this to work.
NOTE: If you want to scan directly from within Photoshop CS3, you need to copy the driver 'ScanGear CS 7.0X' which is found in Applications>CanoScan Toolbox 4.1>Plug-Ins into the photoshop pluggins folder, Applications> Adobe Photoshop CS3>Plug-Ins>Import/Export. You also need to open photoshop in Rosetta mode. Apple + I on the photoshop icon and select 'Open using Rosetta'. I would not recommend using this method though.
STEP 8:
Go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items and remove both of the following:
N067U_ButtonManager.app
N124U_ButtonManager.app
STEP 9:
SCAN.

Canoscan does not work on vista 64-bit

I'm not sure if this will work on the lide 20. I have an lide 35, and there are no 64 bit drivers for it. I downloaded and installed the drivers for the lide 60, told the computer to manually find the lide 60 drivers for my scanner, and installed the canoscan toolbox for vista 64 bit. Works like a champ.
