Graphics Card Driver Trouble

Hi, I'm having trouble with my graphics card (Nvidia e-Geforce 7900 GT/GTO 256 mb) after I just installed a new hard drive and I'm sure that the hard drive itself has nothing to do with the problem but I tried to install a new driver and I get an error message in device manager "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" The only reason I noticed this is because I tried to play Halo and it said DirectDraw failed which is puzzling because when I ran dxdiag.exe it said everything was working fine but the Direct3D capabilities and everything else to do with the display were simply not there or disabled and had an N/A instead of enable. So I thought there was something wrong with the driver and then I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Still no good. So I tried another driver. Once again no good. I still have no idea what to do and I am at a loss. Also when I uninstalled it I used Driver Cleaner Pro and used it in safe mode. So all precautions were taken. It's not because of anti virus soft ware interference because all I use is Windows Defender and I kept that off during all of this. I have a Nvidia nForce4 chipset and the drivers for that are working. Below are the links to the drivers I have used.

Thanks, I really appreciate any assistance.

Did you try to update driver from device manager or uninstall drivers from there this could be where problem lies as device manager removes all parts of driver other programs may not remove all parts even though they say so

I cannot play call of duty world at war with my video card fx 5500 256mb

Hi,

As far as i know 1GB graphics card is required for play call of duty. 256 MB is very low video memory to run this game so its not working on your card.

I recommend you that. Please upgrade your graphics Card to Nvidia GE Force 9400 GT 1GB.

Thanks.

Happy to help you.

256 MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for Inspiron 9400/E1705 Card Failu

Both solutions are wrong. The Dell Inspiron 9400/1705 is a laptop. If you buy a Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 for this laptop, you need to buy a Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 motherboard for a discrete video card. The integrated video is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. The integrated video has the video chipset on the motherboard and the discrete video (GeForce Go 7800) has the video chipset on the video card.

I want drivers for my nvidia card without downloading that damn driver detective!!!!!!

Go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

and plugin the specific hardware information. If you need this information it will be available in the hardware devices menu.

Right click on my computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager.

My nvidia card is not working...Failure with the driver

You should download and install this driver instead for your 6800:

That should take care of your problem.

No signal on screen after install the new VGA card

No, you dont need any power to the Graphics card.

But make sure that the monitor is connected to the new graphics card that you have installed and not on the on-board VGA card. That should do it for you !

well firstly this card is not direct x 10. I'd say get a new card, the geforce 9600gt is a good performer for the price or an ati 4850 which is a bit more expensive
