Question about Creative Labs ZEN V Plus MP3 Player

Creative zen v 2 gb formatting and screen problems

First, I bought a zen v 2gb at Christmas of 2006 and it worked fine until the screen went blank in August of 2007, but I could still listen to music, I just couldn't see the menu. So Christmas of 2007 I bought a zen v plus 2gb so that i would have a working screen and the screen went out on that one too.
second, I have formatted my mp3 player multiple times because it is the easiest way to clear all of the music off so that I can put new music on it. This time when I formatted it and put on all of the music that i wanted, when I went to listen, it only played on song. And because I can't see the screen I dont know what could be wrong. please help me, i've spent a lot of money on technology that doesn't work right.

ZEN will not power up


First back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and make sure it is disconnected from the computer. Then press and hold the play/pause button and turn it on simultaneously. It will then enter recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format and it should work like normal. If it freezes again, then you may need a firmware update.

My mp3 player went blank but its still on


Creative knowledge base gives this answer for blank screen on a Zen MX:
White screens or blank screens could be easily resolved with a firmware reload. The following steps will take you through the troubleshooting steps.
  1. Reset your player and verify if the screen is able to display its contents
  2. Make sure that the player has fully charged battery
  3. Finally, perform the recovery tool if the screen still does not display any contents properly through the following site:

My computer wont reecognize my creative zen 2 GB


You don't have enough room on your drive to do this. I had the same problem. I took all my router ports off and connected just my creative vision player only and it worked. Computer system was over loaded.

Rebuilding


You need to use the Recovery Tool from Creative's website at support.creative.com

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Step by step instructions for formatting a player
1. Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
4. Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
5. After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
6. Re-transfer the tracks to the player.

You need to RMA (return to manufacturer) that ASAP.

The warranty is very short and you should still be under the warranty period. goto www.creative.com/support and request that RMA as soon as possible.

I had to do that with one of my other creative players. They will give you the shipping info and you ship it to them with original recipt and they will fix it for free (if it is under warranty)
