Laptops and netbooks are very compactly built.
There will always be an area of the device that will get warm, due to the inefficiencies in cooling.
As long as you keep the vents clear of obstructions (and the fan works) there is no reason to worry.

Acer laptops are known to get very warm on the left side.

How to restart my acer aspire laptop

Go to he start menu in the bottom left hand corner, then choose restart if it is there. If it isn't, put your mouse over the arrow to the right of shutdown and select restart when the dialogue box pops up. If that doesn't work, try posting which operating system you are using.

Hi we have an Acer 5536 laptop and after being used for around 25 mins it shuts down. The left front side (hinge corner) gets very hot, is this the position of the processor? Does it need the heat sink...

Please check the heat sink vents. If they are blocked with dust, clean them
You might also need to disassemble the notebook, & re-apply fresh thermal grease between the bottom surface of the heat sink & the upper surface of the processor.

I have and ACER aspire 5738G (1yr old now), everytime im playing games, the left portion, exactly below the power button is getting very hot after 30 mins, then my laptop will shutdown.

Games will cause more heat as they put your components under more stress. Make sure that you are not blocking any of the vents and also, check them for dust. Give them a vacuum if they are dusty. It sounds like there is not enough ventilation, which causes your computer to overheat and then to shut down.

My acer aspire notebook is only showing the bottom half of the screen, the top half is white

Grab your screen...right hand on top left hand on bottom. Apply opposite force and attempt to twist screen. If it corrects itself, gets better, gets worse etc...screen is getting ready to be totally shot. Been working on this LCD now for 6 months, just have to twist it here and there to get it to stop turning white. If it does nothing, it's shot. You have to get replacement screen. They are inexpensive and relatively easy to replace.

My friend has the same laptop viz Acer 5738G, but it does not get heated as much as mine? How do I know if my fan is working or not? I do not feel the blast of air coming out from the vents.

The fan and heat sink assembly may be partly blocked with dust. Remove the cust and blow away the fine particles with a can of compressed air.

My acer aspire 5738g keeps shutting down when i'm

Sorry you are having troule. It sounds as if it is getting hot and protecting itself. Games are very cpu intensive and this causes heat. The cheap fix is an under cooler. This is a cooler the laptop sits on. I have seen them at Best Buy for under $20

My Acer Notebook

It sounds like you are having heat issues.

Make sure when you use it the fan is not blocked.

The fan is probably not getting enough air. You need to have a technician free the fan and heat sinks of lint and debris.

If this does not help then you Motherboard and processor would most likely need to be replaced having been damaged by the heat.
