I have a Runco VX-1000ci Projector with DHD controller. If turned on to show TV or photos via DVI, the projector works fine. If I try to watch a DVD, there is no projection of an image. If I turn the controller off and then turn the controller back on and then turn the projector on, the Runco image comes up as it usually does and then "Isf Calibrated" image is on the screen for perhaps 5 seconds, but then the screen goes blank. The question is what is likely the problem?

There are several possible reasons why your Runco CL-710 projector might not be responding to the remote control. Here are a few things you can try:
Make sure that the remote control is properly paired with the projector. Consult the projector's manual for instructions on how to pair the remote control.
Check the batteries in the remote control. If the batteries are low or dead, the remote control may not function properly.
Make sure that there are no obstructions between the remote control and the projector. The remote control uses infrared (IR) signals to communicate with the projector, and these signals can be blocked by objects such as walls or furniture.
Try using a different remote control to see if the problem is with the remote or with the projector.
If none of these steps help, there may be an issue with the projector itself. In this case, you may need to contact Runco customer support for assistance.
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I was about to chime in that you should reset the lamp hours after inserting the new bulb ... until I read that you couldn't see the menu because the bulb still doesn't turn on. Hmmm...
Have you checked all of the filters to ensure they're free of dust build-up? I'm wondering if it overheated which caused the fault.
Due to the fact that this model is out-of-production your options have become limited. I recommend at this point you give them a call:
The manual for the RuCo VX1000c is available at http://www.aboutprojectors.com/pdf/runco-vx-1000ci-manual.pdf The RS232 codes and protocols are towards the back of the manual. According to the manual, the PFP connects to the projector using a CAT5 cable.
1. Press the menu button on the remote to bring up the on-screen menu.
2. Select the Setup Menu
3. Select Picture Orientation
4. Change the configuration so that the image and text appear correctly.
Using the remote control for your projector, turn the unit on, then select 'menu' on the remote. On the menu that pops up in the screen, select 'SERVICE', then 'DISPLAY DEVICE', then 'INSTALLATION'... once you select that, scroll over to the "RESET" under the lamp hours... this should reset it.
Here is a link to the owners manual for your unit.
You can try this reset method, if it doesn't work it will probably need service by a professional. Remeber that all setting will be lost, make sure you know them so you can put them back in after you are finished.
At the player stop condition, press 3 buttons for DVD operation (“PLAY”,”OPEN/CLOSE”, and “ SKIP”) until “INITIALIZE” appears and disappears in the display. (“Initialized” appears and disappears on the TV screen.) ******All user setting will be lost and its factory setting will be restored when this initialization is made. Be sure to memorize your setting for restoring again after the initialization
