Question about KitchenAid 32685 Mixer

Knocking sound Hi... whats going on with my almost brand new KitchenAid 6 qt 575 watt mixer? I used it to make a cake, a batch of cupcakes and now a knocking sound happens when I want to use it? Sounds like something is touching, or is loose inside motor. I flipped it upside-down to see if I could tighten a screw, but that didn't work, as the only screw within tightening range was the assembly to raise and lower the bowl. Hmmm

I have owned the same mixer for 7 months and just recently it has begun "knocking" just as the previous writer described. I thought maybe the beater was causing it but it is not the problem. I would also be interested in a solution.

Hi there - I JUST purchased the 6qt model 2 days ago, and noticed a knocking sound after only 3 uses. Customer service is closed for the night, but I'm calling in the morning. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having the same problem but my mixer is 10 years old. I think the problem is the lock lever. A lock lever holds the mixer head securely in place. If it's loose - as mine is - it jiggles around - causes a knocking sound, makes the mixer vibrate and also causes the bolt to wiggle out of the base. I tried unscrewing all the screws to get inside - but it didn't work. Does anyone know how to tighten a lock lever??

What size fuse is needed for a 600b mixer?

I am guessing you have an older Peavey mixer amp. I believe these mostly used 8 amp fuses although older earlier ones may have used different. It should say on the back at the fuse holder. You can get these at Radio Shack, at better hardware store in either auto electrical or electric sections or on line.

Motor clicks every turn

The clicking is probably a small nick in one of the gears, even the smallest chip can cause alot of noise or make the mixer click. Is the beater shaft still turning when you have a load in the mixer (bowl is full)
Or is it just clicking?

If the beater stops turning it is going to be caused by stripped gears, however if it is just clicking this would indicate just a nick in the gear. Either way I would recommend opening the mixer and replacing the damaged gear/gears.

Your mixer is considered a 5 Quart Professional, which means it has the same parts as a KitchenAid 6 quart mixer. The first thing you will want to do is take the mixer apart and disassemble the gearing. You will want to clean off the gears with paper towels and wd-40. Carefully inspect each gear once clean and replace damaged gears.

In the professional mixers when a gear strips you need to replace the grease and housing gasket, this is because the gears are all metal and there may be metal shavings in the grease which could cause the gears to strip again.

The most common gear to go bad in the Professional series mixers is the Worm Follower Gear (9706529). Here is a link to that gear on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/wormfollower.html

Also, here is a link to the service manual for the mixer, this will aid you in taking the mixer apart and putting it back together correctly. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdf

We are one of KitchenAid's largest service centers within the US, and all parts we sell are genuine KitchenAid products. All parts are available at our website, www.mendingshed.com

Kp26m1xwh Kitchenaid mixer 575 watt stopped working.

On the back of the mixer is a screw holding on the Kitchenaid name plate band that wraps around the mixer. Remove this screw and the name plate and then you'll see four screws (two on each side) holding on the top cover for the mixer. Remove the four screws and then lift off the top cover and you'll see the motor, circuit board and gear box that operate the mixer.

575 watt 6qt stand mixer. start out on low speed

Hi. If your mixer is still under warranty, call Kitchenaid, they are usually very good at replacing mixers under warranty.

If you're out of warranty, you'll need to order a new speed control board. Use the following link to download the parts catalog for your mixer.

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%208212278.pdf

You can remove and replace this board yourself. Use the drawings to assist you with the project.

If this solution has assisted you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45

There is an adjustment screw and a system for setting it. You can find a video of it here (or just a ton of people who know all about these mixers). I just found it while trying to troubleshoot the same problem for my wifes mixer.
