We have a Panassonic TV (no combo DVD/VCR - just a TV). We have it attached to our cable box and to the DVD/VCR player. I came in last week to find our 2 year old pushing the buttons on the front of the TV. There are only Power, Volume, Channel and Action buttons. But whatever he did, we push Play on a DVD or Video and nothing happens, it's like the connection was but between the DVD player and the TV. The DVD is playing, you can see the ticker numbers going up, but nothing shows up on the TV. We do get cable still with no problems. What could he have done? We've tried everything. Thanks!
Well there could be two things going on here that i can think of, one the scart lead between the dvd and the tv is not i properly vica versa for the dvd player, the other thing is the button which changes the av channels could have been pushed so simply push the button while the dvd os on and find the av channel, the button looks like an arrow going right hope it helps.

First off get the TV on the right channel. It will either be ch3 or ch4. If you are using a cable box the dvd/vcr combo will have to be on ch3 or ch4 as well. OK, Make sure the input connector on the combo is hooked to the output connector of the cable box and the output connector of the combo is hooked to the input connector of the tv. Deal with one part at a time. First hook the combo to the tv and get the tv on the right channel (ch3 or ch4) so that you can see a pre-recorded dvd or video play. Then you will know what channel the tv is supposed to be on. When you find it don't bother the tv channel any more. Stop the dvd or video and hook up the cable box and turn on the cable box and set the box to a known good channel. Now put the combo on ch3 or ch4 with the combo's channel selector buttons until you see the cable box playing on the tv (remember you already set up the tv channel). Change channels on the box but don't bother the channels on the tv or combo anymore. You can put the box on whatever channel you want. The box will be your channel selector. I certainly hope that this helps. I know it can be confusing but don't give up. Just remember that the tv and combo have to always be on ch3 or ch4 (which ever one you found before). Good luck and thanks.
is there a cable/ satellite converter box involved? yes...line in from wall to converter box, line out of box to line in dvd / vcr and line out of dvd / vcr to the samsung note the dvd / vcr and samsung must be tune the ch 3....ok no box is involved...the dvd / vcr still needs to be tune to ch 3, (the ch is changed from the tv) dvd/ vcr line out should go to tv in.............the antenna/cable is plugged to dvd line in
You trying to put the DVD/VCR combo between the cable box and the TV? OK, cable out goes to vcr in, vcr out goes to tv, I think you got that. Now there should be a tv/vcr button on the vcr/dvd, you need to press that when the unit is on. Also, make sure you are on the correct input on both the vcr and the tv, usually video 1 or AUX and choose line in or L1 on the vcr/dvd. If the tv/vcr button is toggled, itll completely bypass the vcr/dvd player.
From cable box,hook-up yellow, red and white to video input on TV ...Select that input, activate PIP...........Note:Split signal &
give 1/2 to cable box and 1/2 to Antenna A input on TV then hook RF out to tv to Antenna B................Let me know...T.
If that is the only input that the tv has it's still usable. Just plug the Cable TV or antenna cable into the DVD/VCR coaxial input labeled "in" (instead of the TV's) and hook one from the DVD/VCR's "out" to the "in" on the tv. Turn the TV to channel 3 or 4 (depends on DVD/VCR settings) and use the built in TV tuner on the DVD/VCR to change channels.
If you are able to you can connect to the RF connector (F Type Conncetor) on the TV. This should work.
The layout is from the VCR (RF to TV) to the TV antenna F type connector from your Cable box to the Antenna in of the VCR that way you have cable through the VCR, and access to you VCR and DVD all controlled by the Cable and VCR remotes (set TV to Channel 3, set VCR to Channel 3) and use the Cable box as the tuner, Use the TV remote to switch between Cable and VCR inputs then use the VCR remote to switch between the VCR and DVD input.
