Question about Washing Machines
With the machine empty, rotate the drum by hand. if it spins freely, the belt has come off. if not, then the motor brushes should be inspected. If these prove to be ok, then the most likely cause is the motor run capacitor that would need replacement.
These three items are under $20 each.
If the problem persists after capacitor replacement, then the motor needs checking that it is not burnt out, and the last possibility is the control board. Both of these items run to $150 each.
If you do not feel competent to check these yourself, then employ a competent technician who will.
Replacement parts are available mail order quite easily.
