Question about Kenwood KDC-MP528 CD Player

KDC-Mp528 problem Hi there tech48, I'm gonna try you as my last resort before I send the car to darn Canadian Tire. I have a KDC-MP528 that works just fine (including the subwoofer). A couple of weeks ago I had a dead battery on my Chrysler Neon. After boosting it up, I noticed that everything worked just fine, except for the USER sound settings that seemed different from what I originally set (not a big deal); and the AUX mode that just woudn't show. When you click the power button it goes from STANDBY to TUNER to STANDBY, skipping the AUX for some reason. Do you have any idea of what might have happened?

thanks so much for your answer...really appreciated it. I will definitely try to find the manual to look for some setting to have it working ok again. And trying to reset it worst case scenario should work too...

    Thanks!

I get no audio from my kdc-mp528. Everything is connected properly. Will the security code cause this problem?

The settings changed because when the battery died it was like resetting the unit. It seems that the problem is with the radio, not the car. Read over your owners manual to see if there are any setting you need to put back in. I can't remember off the top of my head what those settings would be. You can always push the reset button again and see if it clears up your problem, but you would also be clearing out all the previous settings. Sometimes you must have a device connected to the aux input for the radio to detect that there is something on it. Again, checking in your owners manual will tell you if there is anything you must do. Most problems of this nature will require a professional technician to figure out. I could do it myself if I had your radio on my test bench, but that is a little out of the question since I live in the US, and you are in Canada.
The reset button is the very small button that can only be pressed with the tip of an ink pen or something that small. It is on the display just right of the "6" preset button. If you have a security code on the radio, you will need it to turn the radio back on again. I can tell you how to clear the code if you need it, so don't reset the unit until I tell you how to clear the code. You don't want to go without any sounds at all.

If your car is not outputting the proper voltage from the alternator it could be causing the radio to not function properly, so check to make sure you have about 14 volts with the car running.

Most likely it is a problem with the radio, maybe the microprocessor.

Hope this helps,

Dave

Help

HI Ramo,

I appears to be impossible to put in a security code after the owner sets one. If you purchased this radio from someone and it is used, you need to get the code from the original owner.
Tha owners manual is at this URL

Good luck dude.

Kenwood kdc-mp528 amp/speaker problem???

This is a common mistake. This problem indicates that you are using the solid blue wire from the head unit to the remote turn-on on the amp. This is a power antenna wire that only receives power when on FM radio. You need to replace this with the Blue & White wire from the head unit (power control wire) to your remote turn-on on your amp. This should solve your issue.
