Question about Kodak EasyShare Z740 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Software issues The camera software on the computer continually causes the compter to freeze or the program itself closes automatically whenever I try to do anything. The computer is brand new but we had the same problem with our last computer as well. I can guarantee everytime I open the easyshare software that at least one error report will be sent to microsoft.

There is an 'Easy' solution to this well known problem
Remove the software from the computer.
Out the CD back in the box it came in.

Windows does not actually need software to read a camera and there is plenty of free software out there that does work
Picasa for starters

Canon Rebel Freezes when transfering photos to computer

Well, without access to your equipment, I can only guess. However, you could have three main causes for this problem.
1) Camera(s) If it only does it with a couple of cameras then it is a camera problem, If it only does it with the same camera over and over again it is definitely the camera. If it does it with all your cameras it is probably not the cameras.
2) Card reader. I don't know how to check this (I don't know any that are repairable), but the easiest solution would be to replace it. If the problem continues after you replace it, with any camera, then you are left with:
3) Computer. First off try the card reader on another USB port on the computer - the one your are using may be damaged in some way. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you are looking at a computer repair/replacement.

PHOTOfunSTUDIO hang on PC. When open the software, mouse freeze up.

It may be an issue with the amount of processing power your computer has. You could try uninstalling the software and then re-installing it...sometimes that helps but, if your computer is under-powered, you may have to do without the program.

Canon powershot A720is continually powers my computer on and off

Don't thru the camera out the window as it is working on the other system.

I assume you are connecting the camera to the computer USB port; if yes, please check the USB drivers of the operating system on the computer. there might be a physical USB port issue, or USB driver issue or USB port over current issue.

Check all this things before connecting ur camera or check with any other USB device.

k.vel

Compter does not recognise software when installed

You didn't mention what kind of interface you are using but USB is the most common.

I would recommend removing any trace of your camera you find in the Scanners & Camera folder of the control panel.

Have your camera attached to your system and restart it.

Windows should recognize the 'New Device' and may install the standard driver by itself. If you are given the option of of "Install from Disc," insert your installation disc at that time and continue.
Windows should locate the proper driver from the disc.

If you are still having problems, give us a shout back.

Computer freezes up while trying to transfer images

Hi, The only reason your apps freezes is if it is having a hard time communicating with the camera and more often than not it is the memory of the camera that causes this. A couple of things you can try: 1. Rather than direct connection camera to PC, use a memory card reader. Remove the camera memory and use the reader to access/transfer the files; 2. It may be time to reformat the memory card itself which can be done by the PC through the card reader or the Format command in your camera; 3. retrieve files from the camera memory using a file recovery program such as "GetDataBack for FAT" and after all pictures/data/files have been recovered, do 2 above; 4. Try a different memory card (not necessarily same capacity) to check whether it is the memory or the camera itself; and/or 5. Reset you camera (powering off and removing the battery). Good luck and kind regards.

ERROR MESSAGE: "Checksum error."

The Checksum error usually indicates a data transmission issue. This may be due to a loose connection, bad wiring, electrical interference (cross-talk), a physical problem with the device itself, or a conflict caused by another software program. * Make sure that the cable attaching the camera to the computer is secure at both ends. * Close down all of the computer's other applications before attempting to download. 1. Press the CTRL, ALT and DELETE keys simultaneously. This will bring up the Close Program Window. 2. Highlight the program that you want to close and select END TASK. The Close Program window closes only one program at a time, so you will have to repeat these steps for each program that you want to close. NOTE: The SYSTRAY and EXPLORER programs should be allowed to run. Do not select End Task for these programs. You will also want to leave any necessary programs running, such as those controlling a wireless mouse or keyboard.

Do the following to close all running programs: Disconnect the camera from the computer. Close all software programs. Reconnect the camera. The Battery Monitor or similar software runs constantly. Close the software before starting Kodak EasyShare software.
