If you are connected via USB cable. Disconnect the cable prior to installation. When instructed to do so, connect the USB cable. Should installation finish without prompting you to connect the USB cable, Connect it only after the installation is done. When Windows says it has found a new device after connecting, click on the cancel option.
Go to Start, Printers, add see if your printer is now listed. if not you should be able to install it easily enough.
