Connection failed error message

Posted by shmoopers on Jun 03, 2008 Report abuse

I have a Samsung A707 phone. In the past, I've been able to send images to my phone to my MacBook Pro without a problem. Now I just get a "Sending Failed" error whenever I try to send a file.

I've checked both my laptop and my phone. They're both showing as being successfully paired.

Any ideas about something else to try to get it to work?

Thanks in advance!
Comment by shmoopers, posted on Jun 19, 2008Okay. I disconnected the phone and the laptop and went thru the process of reconnecting and it still doesn't work. There is no Samsung driver loaded on my Mac (couldn't find one anyway) so there's nothing to uninstall.

The odd thing is that when I choose to "Browse Device(s)" via my laptop I can see the phone and navigate to the Graphics folder. However, once there I can only see photos I took last year. I can't see any of my more recent photos. These photos are the ones that I'm trying to send to the laptop.

I was able to send a file from my laptop to the phone. But not the other way around. And when I tried sending the same image back to the laptop the connection failed (as it always does).

Any other ideas?

yes. i paired it to my Mac at work and had the same difficulty. the devices show as being paired however the connection fails when i send a photo file from the phone to the computer.

when i send a file from the computer to the phone it works correctly.

hello again. i just paired my Samsung phone with my friend's phone. I was able to connect there phone to my Mac laptop as well.

I thought that maybe the photos I've been taking with my Samsung were too large (file size) so I experimented with reducing the file size. The connection still failed. I can still see the Mac via my phone and vice versa... but the connection continues to fail. And the Mac isn't able to see any of the files of the photos I took on my phone. It can see the photos on the phone that were not taken by the Samsung however.

    Any other suggestions?

Pairing the phone doesn't seem to be the problem -- it's sending a photo file from the phone to another device using Bluetooth -- that's the problem. I keep getting a "connection failed" error message. Anything else I should try?

I actually found the following and got to send files from my phone to Mac:

    1) Go into System Preferences
    2) Click on 'Sharing' under Internet & Network
    3) select Bluetooth Sharing. It's deselected by default.

Hope that helps... although I noticed the original post is old...

do you have friends with bluetooth phones who could try? at least if someone else can connect to your computer, you will then know that its not the dongle...

this can test if the bluetooth device is the one has a problem. the tester must be a different phone than you have.

    let me know here again...

    thank you..

Multimedia Message Problem

What can you do> Hymm, Call ATT and have them turn on "internet pay per use" (WAP). If they tell you its on, tell them to turn it off and back on again. Then turn your phone on and off.

This is the 98 percent reason why you can not get MMS message (picture messages).

Simple fix, but ATT has to do it

Error Message for Multimedia Messaging

internet pay per use is off, thats the only way to send MMS files is to have the internet pay per use on your phone.

call ATT and have them turn it back on. It does not charge you anything unless you cruise the internet.
