Have you checked the circuit board in the console? Often you can find a burn mark on the board from a defective door latch. Just remove the 3 screws on the top of the console. It will let the come forward. You should see a circuit board on the right hand size. Look around the middle of the board. If it's burned, you'll need both a new board and a new latch. Let me know what you find.

The MAH5500B Neptune does not have the door latch wax motor so you won't have the R11 resistor burnt...

With that said.. Maytag made the door latch assemby one complete assembly meaning that you cannot replace the micro switches, solenoid, etc. On the older door latch assemblies Maytag broke it down to all of the little parts, ie. 12002535 wax motor, etc. I imagine that this was to reduce the part numbers folks would have to store in inventory...

You stated that the door is not locking? Did you pull on it to verify this? or could the door lock indication be not working?
There are 2 microswitches in the door latch assembly, one lights the door locked light and the second actually tells the control board that the door is locked. It is possible that the door is locked but the door locked light does not come on...

It more than likely could be three things.. The door latch assembly, wiring or control board. I would take Neptune apart so you can have access to the door latch asembly See www.neptunewaxmotor.com for step by step photos. Put a volt meter on the solenoid wires and see if you get 120VAC when the door should be locked. If so, then the solenoid coil is probably opened up and you will have the replace the door latch assembly. If 120 VAC is absent then I would check the wiring from the door latch assembly to the control board with an ohmmeter (unplug Neptune to be safe while using ohmmeter) If wire continuity is good then I would suspect the machine control board.

Start button does not activate door lock and will not turn on

It may be a micro switch that is not engaging. Try pushing on the door to see if that solves the problem. If so, put in a spacer to push the switch more.

Code od

The OD code should mean that the unit did not detect the door open between your loads. Try to open the door and close it a couple of time to see if it will reset itself. If it doesnt reset, then the problem could be one of three things. The first thing is the door latch assembly itself could be defective. Second problem could be the control board is defective, and is not picking up the code. The other could be the wiring itself running between the door and the control board. There really is no way of testing the control board (which is located in the console itself) or the door latch assembly. BE SURE TO UNPLUG THE UNIT BEFORE REMOVING ANYTHING PLEASE. This unit has 2 lid locks, left and right. I believe to remove the front panel you put a putty knife between the top and front panel, approx 2 inches in from the sides, and pop the two clips. Lift the top up and support in a safe way (if it swings down and hits you in the head, the door locks wont be a problem for a few hours). Check he wiring in and around the lid locks, the top, and where they pass all along the route to the console. The control boards on these units are very expensive to say the least. The part numbers for each part are:

Control Board Assembly: 25001217 Approx $175 US
Lid Lock Right Hand: 25001037 Approx $ 23 US
Lid Lock Left Hand: 25001048 Approx $ 23 US

Here is a couple of pages with diagrams that may help you a little better:

Front And Cabinet (Note that #14 will be the clips I was telling you about)

Let me know if you have any questions whatsoever. Just take note, that replacing one of these parts on a guess could cost you a lot of money. Pleased try to open and close that lid a couple of times to see if anything changes. And please let me know how it turns out, or if you need ANYTHING at all. Thanks and great luck. Jim

I have a frigidaire mef352bgwd electric oven- after a power outage the lock engaged (door open) and now blinks continually. Tried shutting off breaker for 30 minutes- no change.

There is a pin that tells the oven the door is open, you need to push it in an hold it. It is pretty stiff, you can't use your bear hand. It will be in the upper left of where the door closes.

CHevy cobalt door locks- lock and unlock while I am driving had key fob reprogrammed and it was ok for about two hours and started all over again. What can the problem be?

Could be a problem in the shiftier. Your car doors lock automatically when you put the car in drive. They unlock when you put the car in park. The switch located in the shiftier can go bad causing the locks to randomly lock and unlock. Also, this can cause the key to get stuck in the ignition.

Cylinder seal

for most dryers,
Go buy HiTemperature silicone adhesive (tube)
tools required couple pairs locking pliers/visegrips screwdrivers

Unplug dryer
remove the front cover, either
  • couple screws at the bottom and spring clips to pop off with a screw driver OR
  • couple of spring clips to hold the top lid on, then screws top and bottom of both sides

examine the case to find the exact mounting
unclip cables from door switch
set front panel aside
unhook drive belt from tensioner pulley
pull drum forward and out

remove old felt
scrape off old adhesive
put adhesive per instructions (some 2 surfaces some 1) on drum/felt
clip felt in place on drum with visegrip at 1 point
stretch felt around drum, gluing and clipping in place with vicegrips as you go
allow glue to set

reassemble in reverse order

wow took longer to type than it actually takes to do it

Bosch SHU43 / Siemens Dishwasher door not locking

I replaced the top cover, that required removing the door screws to get access to the front of the door to remove the 4 top cover retaining screws. After replacing all this, the door latch was in teh locked position not allowing the door to close. How do you physically re-set the lock, I tried to push it with no luck!

Ice maker does not make ice and the in-door water is not working properly - it keeps running.

the water in the door problem after you fill up your cup with water it keeps running all over the floor.. it sounds like its a stuck contact on a micro switch inside the door compartment. that lever you are pushing your glass onto is atached to a little switch and if the contacts stay closed (like when a glass is pushing on it) the machine thinks "hey he still wants water". next time it does that try pushing on the spot you put the glass onto a couple of time to see if it stops the water. if so it most likely is the switch. to confirm that is the case you will have to open the plastic moulding from the fridge door to gain access to the switch.( always unplug any electricall device before openning to ensure your hair doesnt end up standing striaght up like a punk rocker) you will know which switch is the one you want to check by depressing the water lever on the front. Ohm check the switch for continuity to see if it gives you proper readings or it is in fact a bunk switch. it also could be a mechanical problem as the lever once unpressed is not opening the switch back up once the glass is removed but that is not as likely unless you are ramming the glass into the water dispensor
hope it helps
